Why do people say they OWN" a dog(s). What is that about? Maybe just old thinking/ways but come one people! They are not a chair or toaster. They are our family, our children and simply have hair and cannot talk. (OK and a few other differences such as the way they say hello to other dogs lol) We have to be so careful politically speaking about people so IMO, animals included. Maybe they don't understand but I think for many, it speaks of how they are treated/deeper. Although I would never push my opinions on others as everyone has a right to be/think who and what they are but ya, sorry, saying I'm a dog "owner" really turns me off and gives me the impression that human either is simply ignorant/hasn't thought about it that way because of how most people speak) or they treat their dog like a possession. We belong to our children and pet children as much as they belong to us. We are so ridiculously blessed to have their unconditional unbelievable love. Shout out to those who say they are family! IMO:)
