If anybody is looking at getting into, or improving some of the skills required for Stockmans Challenges, this is a great place to start! Or maybe you’re just looking for a fun weekend out with friends. Either way, fun is guaranteed and you’ll learn a lot too 🐴

Introducing our second lot of instructors for our clinic running our mechanical cow section is Paul Spears and Kye Willis!

They will be teaching the foundations for a campdraft style cut out to help excel in challenges, campdrafting and any other cow horse events!

Anyone who has bred horses (or attempted to) can probably understand our joy at those little black circles. You can do everything by the book but there’s no guarantee. This year we’ve had odd cycles, delayed planes causing semen not to arrive and even some textbook breedings that didn’t result in a pregnancy. Many hours of driving and a scary amount of 💸💰

While the heat is increasing, so is the number of client horses Kye has taken on over the recent weeks. Unfortunately that means shoeing runs to Wagga and Albury have been reduced to the routine runs and current clients only at this stage. There will be limited slots available for trims/ shoeing here on the property and new & existing clients are welcome to message the page to book in.
Client horse slots are currently full but we do have one place available for the next intake of breakers/ trainers which is looking like mid Jan at this stage.

We sure do love an update! We sold Cash as a fluffy coated, green broken baby to repeat clients Matt and Siana back in July. There’s nothing like slow miles around the hills to build on a good foundation and they’ve done everything we hope for when we sell a green horse.
While they were here to look at Cash for Siana, Matt laid eyes on his half brother (apparently a sucker for a black horse… can’t blame him 🤣) and they came back last month to take him home as well. We’re loving being able to follow along with their journey 🙌🏼

Normally Kye is the one dishing out advice but this weekend was my turn. The Upper Murray Horseman's Association Adults Camp at Tallangatta🐴
Teaching an ‘introduction to obstacles’ to over 50 riders felt like a heck of a task but everyone progressed at such a quick rate that we got to cover a lot of ground 🙌🏼 I think everyone had fun and nobody fell off so we’ll call that a win 🤣
Thanks to the club for the weekend. It’s such a great mental health initiative to step away every now and then and just relax and have fun. I know my mental health is dramatically improved after last nights shenanigans 🤣🙌🏼

Kye has started doing a trim/shoeing run to Wagga and surrounds. A change of plans tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 21st) means he doesn’t have to rush back now and has had a couple of places open up on the list for trims or one more set of shoes.

If there’s enough interest he will consider doing more runs down that way on a regular basis. Pm us for further details!

Toonga Mocca is taking everything in her stride in Toowoomba! A lovely cross of both HSH and AQHA Campdrafting royalty, she’s sure to make an impression under saddle.
Being by Grit, she encompasses both the outstanding Hazelwood Coraline and Chevin Ivory on the top side. And if that’s not enough, her dam is an own daughter of Acres Destiny.

Kye has handled Mocca from an early age. She leads well, will stand to have her feet picked up, lunges and has started some basic ground work that will help her to excel down the track when she is started under saddle.

Mocca sells Saturday morning and is available for viewing tomorrow.

Kye is very proud to present these 3 lovely horses at the Nutrien Supreme Sale in Toowoomba next week on behalf of Des and Pat Castine.
We think so highly of Mocca that we’ve purchased her mother and we’re expecting a full sibling in November.

Now that the Nutrien high has worn off it’s business as usual around here. The beautiful CO2 sold for $20,000 and we can’t thank Des and Pat Campdraft horses Toonga enough for entrusting Kye to break in, train and prep another of their horses for the sale.

We have a couple of places coming up for breakers or trainers in March so feel free to reach out and get your horse off to a great start in their ridden career!
