🚨 PUPPY HIT BY CAR 🚨

On Saturday we received a call about this little one who was struck by a car and unable to walk.

Candice immediately said ”what can I do” and rushed to get him to the vet.

Our vet stabilized her and now that him breathing is clearing up, he is facing an amputation of his back leg.

We are hoping to be able to raise the funds to help this little one and get him on the road to recovery.

We need to raise roughly $1000 for his vet bill and for physiotherapy during his recovery 🥺❤️

Donations can be sent to [email protected] or message us for info if you’d like to pay directly to the vet.

Thank you Candice for getting this sweetheart to the vet so quickly and to our vets for always providing such great care ❤️❤️❤️

Sometimes we feel lost.
What do we do?
What CAN we do?

Helpless. That’s how we feel in these situations.

We received an emergency call earlier this week from RCMP about medical intake for the sweet little pup shown below.

Two youth, 11 years old, beat her with a baseball bat. She was barely able to lift her head but was alive. We told the officer we would do anything we could but she passed in the officer’s arms before she could be taken to the vet for care.

RIP little girl 🥺❤️ your life will be remembered, cherished, and we hope it won’t be wasted.

We know that this will cause outrage for many of you for many reasons. We ask that if you feel anger towards the children please take a minute to consider what these kids must have lived through, and might be currently living through, to cause them to act with this level of cruelty.

Children completely desensitized to inflicting harm upon another living creature. Causing fatal damage without remorse.

We hope this post can help influence a positive change. Change in our system to intervene in these situations. For us as humans to take a good, hard, look in the mirror. We want to do everything we can to prevent situations like these. We believe in promoting mental health awareness, empathy, and education while providing support, outreach, and self empowerment.

We need to feel and understand the trauma that lead us here.

All living beings deserve better then this. We can do better than this.

Let’s break the cycle and get help to those who need it.

Lend a hand, not an opinion.

Thank you so much to S2DIO for hosting this awesome fundraiser and for all those who showed up and supported the cause ❤️

What a crew last night!

We hosted a clip for a cause for Canine Community Alliance and had a full house!!

PLUS we got to meet a couple foster pups! Good grief they were the cutest, calm little cucumbers! One almost came home in the bosses bag!

Thank you everyone who came out to ride for this! We think we should do another one for this crew and maybe meet some more pups! What do you think?

Posting in hopes to help this family find a new home for their dog 🐶

EDIT: NEEDS SOMEWHERE TO GO BY AUGUST 9th! Rescue placement, foster home, or forever family!

“Here is Copper. He is a 2 almost 3 year old male Blood hound cross c**n hound. Copper would do great with a family on an acreage or a large yard. He is a high energy dog. He would do good with a family who spends a lot of time outdoors. He would do great with a family with kids. He is good with other dogs and cats. He is currently located in northern Saskatchewan and will be relocated at the beginning of august.

He loves to swim and play fetch“

We have something exciting in the works!!!! Stay tuned!! 🐶🐶🐶

PUPDATE - Rocco

We are eating, drinking, and out of the vet office 🥰

Not out of the waters yet as we have to wait for the contagious period to subside, but Rocco is on the mend!

So grateful to Mohawk Animal Clinic for taking him into their care as well as the volunteers who helped transport and make arrangements for this little man ❤️

Once he is no longer shedding the virus, he will be returning to his owners 🥰 stay tuned for fundraisers to help with his bill!

Donations can be made to [email protected]
Or to our vet directly 🐶

***EMERGENCY***

This week is starting out rough 😢

Tonight we had an amazing volunteer drive up north and pick up a young pup whose owner was really concerned about him.

The volunteer rushed him an hour and a half away to the emergency vet. The visit confirmed our poor little Rocco is positive for parvo. He will remain at the vet for round the clock care.

*PARVO POSITIVE*

We are not a rescue, we are just a group of frontline volunteers. We do not have regular donations or donors, nor do we get any funds from adoptions.

We still have not paid our vet bills off from the last emergency, please help in any way you can.

Donations can be made to
[email protected]
or directly to our vet (please DM us for info)

Please keep Rocco in your prayers 🙏 as he needs all the help he can get ❤❤❤

When we ask for help, we, unfortunately, are not exaggerating.

Christina received a call from a nurse about a pregnant dog who had 2 options.

1. The dog was getting on a plane to fly to Prince Albert or...

2. The dog was going to get shot if Christina did not take responsibility for her.

Every rescue is full; adoptions are down. It is a sad time for dogs who need help in our province. Rescues want to help, but without funding or fosters, we are unable to take any more dogs into care.

Of course, Christina wasn't going to let option 2 happen. Without a plan, Christina said yes to her, flying down, and would work on trying to find a Foster and a rescue to intake.

Yesterday at 2:30 pm, a very sweet pregnant dog named Diamond landed in Prince Albert with the nurse who arranged flights and flew out with Diamond to get her to safety.

At 4:00 pm, Diamond went into labor, having 6 puppies at Christinas home. She was lucky enough to have her babies in a safe place.

If it was not for Christina saying yes, 7 lives would have been lost yesterday.😭

Christina and Lindy were able to work together. Lindy was able to find a Foster for Diamond, which she will go to soon, as well as arranged intake with Flirting with Fido in Moose Jaw.💖

If you'd like to make a donation to help us continue to help animals like Diamond, we accept email transfers. You can email us at [email protected] 💖💖

Thank you to Flirting with Fido for saying yes to helping continued care for Diamond and her puppies.💖 Diamond and her pups will be up for adoption with FWF once they are ready.

Some tips for bite prevention in the home!

If you are going to own a dog, please be conscious of the safety precautions you need to take with your pet.

Did you know children are the most likely to be bitten by dogs, followed by seniors? Dr. Karen Machin (DVM, PhD), a resident in animal behaviour and pain at the WCVM’s Veterinary Medical Centre, shares her top tips for dog bite prevention:

✅ All dogs can bite, even if they’ve been good with children before.

✅ Children represent everything that dogs dislike. They’re noisy, they’re unpredictable and they can manhandle.

✅ Introduce children to pets slowly.

✅ Allow the dog to initiate the interaction rather than the child. Let the dog choose whether or not it wants to interact.

✅Give dogs an opportunity to exit and a safe space to retreat to.

✅Children ages six through 11 are the most likely to be bitten by a dog due to decreased parental supervision. It’s always important to supervise children and animals.

Dr. Machin will present a free, online seminar for pet owners on dog bite prevention on Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. CST as part of Dog Bite Prevention Week. Register here: https://wcvm.usask.ca/education/pet-behaviour-2022.php
