"Are you a squish? Are you a squish squish?"
Maybe not normal conversation in most families. But, it's happening in mine!

"Are you a squish? Are you a squish squish?"
Maybe not normal conversation in most families. But, it's happening in mine!
Solid hood on the belly. Broken hood on the back. SUPER cute on the face!
Mr Big x Rusa DU dumbo Agouti broken hooded boy.
One of our Mr Big x Rusa babies. Cute little black berkshire Downunder dumbo girl.
History time! Back in the day, before when I bred and showed rats in the NorthWest, I was one of the very first ratteries in the US to breed the Downunder rats from the Australian imports. We picked up DUs and Aussie minks from Connie Perez at a show in California. Big happy memories!
When we decided to get back into rat breeding, I knew that DU was one of the things I really wanted, again. I was so happy when 4Z shared Mr Big with us. And I'm already so smitten with our two litters by him!
Rusa is nearly to the 'bridge' stage of motherhood, where the babies can lift her like a moshpit.
She's such a sweet, devoted mama. I for sure appreciate her wonderful nature. Kissy and sweet!
Cinnamon rat, no filters. I love the 'autumn' rattie colors! Cinnamon is Mink+Agouti, and a rich orangy color mix.
This is one of our Rusa sons, a 'bedhead' (meh) rex dumbo. I can't wait to see how this sweet boy matures!
Pretty sure that little chonker, is an agouti Downunder! Color is still working on coming in. It's harder to tell bellies on agouti-based colors, since they're a creamy pale coloration on their tummies.
Handsome 4Z Keenan, a pearl irish-marked young buck. He's sweet, social, and oh so pretty. We just adore him!
Can't wait to see what kind of babies he sires in the future, when he's older.
Downunder in black and white. Squish and cute.
Boggle, boggle, brux, brux!
Took Jinxy outside for some natural light pics, and got to watch the cute of this little guy crazy eye boggle and brux. Bruxxing (teeth grinding) is normal, natural, and healthy for rats. It's comparable to a cat purring.
I will never get bored by all the pearly ratties in my world. It's my favorite coloring!
Awww! Downunder baby grooming, yawning, and toe sucking.
I really love the baby Ratties, and watching them as they grow. In a few days their eyes will open, then they'll start to really toddle, and play.
Cute little side splashes on this one week old black dumbo hooded downunder rattie bean. I am loving watching her grow!
One week old black dumbo hooded downunder boy napping.
The twitching you see is known as "activated sleep", and actually helps babies build muscle and prepare to be able to move and walk on their own. A fun, normal part of healthy development. I could watch them sleep for hours.
Sweet, sweet Rusa. One of our favorite girls! She's a cinnamon dumbo 'bedhead' rex.
What I refer to as 'Bedhead Rex'. Genetically, he's rex. But his expression of the rex coat gene has mellowed out so much that now he simply looks standard coat who rolled out of bed and didn't brush their hair. Obviously incorrect, and not to show standard, but a silly nickname I give these poor rex coat examples.
Cinnamon dumbo rex
Really cool pattern silvered mink standard-earred boy. He started off solid mink, and is silvering out. Very pretty!
I've not made official decisions on this litter, but he may be available to a pet home.
It's picture day at the Rattery! This is Jinx, a handsome silvered mink dumbo. Sire to our current litter. I took him outside to try and show off his pretty coloring better.
Handful of pearls.
Working on better ears and type. Love this sweet, pretty pearl dumbo girl!
She's a holdback, but we have brothers of her available once they're older.
Dreaming of pinkies, all tucked in her bin.
Squidink wondering what all this is about. And, is there yogies involved?
Getting his squish on! He's still just a teenager, but I have a feeling he'll be a squish squish lump like his Daddy, Grape.
Got my first hairless mice, and am OBSESSED! They're so sweet, adorable, and naked.
Who needs hammocks and snuggle tubes, when you have a perfectly, errr, ummm, 'comfy' food bowl to pile up in.
These guys stashed their food, and are using the bowl as their snuggle spot. Silly boys!
Looks like big ears here has some tasty toes. I always love watching them groom themselves!
Baby girls headed to their new home. Awww! These cinnamon and mink Grape x Rusa daughters are already enjoying their new kid.
Brother to the handsome buck I posted the other day. He just went to his new home.
I love how sweet and squishy these 8 week olds already. Super snuggly, they melt in your hands like mama Rusa and daddy Grape.
It's been really hard picking my keepers from this litter, but I'm pretty sure this young buck will be staying. The more time I spend with him, the more I fall for him. This entire litter was very social and outgoing like their parents, and that's sure hard to resist!
Oh! Squish!
Not quite a perfect self, but close! Loving this little pearl dumbo girl.
Love the kissy babies! This is a Grape x Rusa daughter. Awww!
A boopsable nose, and adorable splashed t**h and tail. Aww!
Minks and pearls, in dumbo and standard ears.
Grape x Serendipity son. A cute variegated mink dumbo. I love that little headspot!
Attempted bitty baby pics... They're super squirmy wormy so were all over the place. Even under the sleigh!
Awwww!
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
Pictured is a Grape x Rusa cinnamon rex son.
Boys on the 'observation deck'. I love their dogpile snuggle sessions!
From the 'observation deck'. Hammock lounging is the favorite pastime here!
Good morning, handsome. Reading in the rat room.
Usually I much prefer dumbo's, but I keep eying this sweet pearl, top-eared Grape x Boina girl. Too young to decide keepers, yet. But this little little is on my short list.
Kissy, kissy, kissy! One of the Grape x Boina pearl girls. Awww! I love when they're in the little hopping stage soon after their eyes open. Like a little rattie party all the time!
Squidink (Grape x Nina) showing off his cute baby face. He's our keeper ritten, in hopes of more nice merles in the future.
