Gmoney now called Jumanji has a rough appearance. He has bad skin allergies for which he is being treated but he itches a lot. Together with his hair loss and one badly injured eye that cannot be repaired, he really does not look like a Siamese. He makes up for his appearance by being a total love bug. Very sweet cat. We clean him up daily but he just keeps looking rough. We massage him with skin cream to relieve his itchiness. He got injections too. His hair seems softer now with bloody crusty spots here and there. We will continue to find a way to make him better. If anyone has experience or tips we welcome them!!

The lady with the two cats that is homeless turned out to have no intention to surrender her cats. They are in a baby stroller on the street in the heat with no medical care. She stopped answering and I am glad I did not waste my time traveling to meet her when she was just lying through her teeth. I am sad for the cats but I have no control and we don't even know where she is now...sad when people are too selfish to give up their animals so they can have a better life.

Giving up my beach day again for the dog rescue. Truth be told I was mowing around the lemur and kinkajou enclosures and stepped into fire ants, then again during the dog rescue attempt. I made myself bleed it itched so much do not going in salt water...sigh. Cheeks is sprawled out on my bed. All the cats love him, he must be handsome in cat world too. Cinderella is still alone in the cat building and she is not pooping in the litter box but using it to p*e. Took my dog Helena to the vet today for her annual. Decided to the rattlesnake vaccine just in case. We let her run on the property, she is a German Shorthair Pointer with loads of energy but we do live in rattlesnake country here. Walked the property to look for John the tortoise. Feeding and cleaning in between. Grayson was adopted today!

I went back before dark to bring her water and more food. She was running away far from me.she is so scared it is so sad. My husband will be here early probably to help. I am planning on rigging a large dog crate to see if I can trick her early in the morning. We are also working on a situation with two cats living with a person that is currently homeless. We will take the cats hoping to give the owner time to get back on her feet to return them to her. They are moving from motel to motel not good and stressful for the owner who is doing the best she can. So we are going to help.

Well thanks to some very nice people I got a dog trap donated. I don't want this job but I am sure I will use it in the future. Many dogs are always dumped in rural areas. I am going to try and get this shepherd but I don't know how successful I will be.

I guess I am going to try and trap this dog somehow...😳😳

Punkin went to the vet today. He was a former TNR, we were told he was in a hoarding situation but had medical records, went to another rescue but remained feral. He was put in a barn and we decided to take 8 cats from there to give them a better life. He is 12 years old now, he looked a little rough lately so we got some tests done. He also got his vaccines. He is very sweet now. Results will come in Monday.

Sharing because most cat rescues agree!

After being yelled at repeatedly by a woman for suggesting she bring her cat (who just caught a baby bird) inside, we thought it was time to post.

It seems any time we post or say anything about not allowing pet cats outside, we get attacked by people assuming that we hate cats. So let’s just set the record straight here.

Nobody here “hates cats”. In fact, every member of CLAWS has pet cats. We keep our cats inside for the safety of the cats. We also talk to and have friends that have outdoor cats, most are barn cats, helping keep rodents and other animals out of feed and we do not attack those people. In fact, if you watch any of these posts we have attacked nobody. Nobody has ever actually blamed a cat for the destruction that they do.

Why? Because it isn’t the cats’ fault that humans are irresponsible and let them out! IF you would like to claim we are blaming somebody, please put the blame where it is due, solely on the humans that cause domestic housecats to end up outside, in an area where they are invasive. Outside, where their lives and the lives of those they’d prey on are in danger.

No, we don’t want cats outside where they will injure more wildlife than any owner will ever know about (people only see about 10% of what they catch) and where life is very unsafe for the cats themselves. We want them safe. We want them cared for like the pets they were meant to be. Life outside is hard, no matter what the species. But it is especially hard for a domesticated animal that has most, but not all of the instincts that it needs to survive and where many people don’t want them to be. For them life is very hard and terrifying.

We will continue to post the reality of what we see. Which is that cats are very destructive to our local ecosystem. I’m sorry if reality is difficult for some.

Rather than attacking us for trying to get people to be responsible pet owners, try seeing things from our perspective. Don’t expect any wildlife rehabber to be ok with your cat harming animals that you then expect us to fix. Maybe also try to educate pet owners about keeping their animals safe instead of attacking those that are dealing with the aftermath.

And please understand, any threats we are sent WILL be turned over to the proper authorities.

Enclosed is a photo of our cat, Nemo, who was once a feral cat, showing how lovely it is to live inside.

There is a small piece of property that touches my property. Unfortunately, the neighbors are very irresponsible and dont care how they affect others. This the 5 th time I am incurring cost to repair my fences and cut trees because of them. I tried to talk to them but they don't care. I have to repair so my cattle does not get out. And then I have to restrict them from the back pasture until the fence is fixed. Always because of a storm. The place is a junk yard and a fire hazard. Not all neighbors are great here. I am over it!! One more thing on an already full plate.

Goose was returned after being adopted because he was stressing out the resident cat. We gave him some time to calm down. He is a medium hair Tuxedo and we think he will do better in a home without other cats. He is fine with dogs.

Im excited. Being sick and spending time on figuring out how to make running the sanctuary more efficiently, I decided to give Facebook market place a try. And I found two litter robots for $125 each. Normally these are $550 each. I am donating to the sanctuary from my own money. They were in Venice and one of our adopters that lives there graciously helped us secure them fast. Picking them up Saturday! We are very close now to being fully automated regarding litter boxes. We save litter, time, physical strain and above all so much cleaner!! Thank you Judy!!
