ππ Letβs talk about reverse luring ππ
I talk about this a lot on my training days and online but it can be a difficult concept so letβs talk about it!
This starts off with the simple - itβs your choice / leave it - game where you teach the dog to not take food in your hand unless released. More importantly, for this purpose, we want them to be still before we release them.
Using the open hand / closed hand mechanic is very useful because later on, an open hand with food in becomes a visual cue for stillness. (As you can see in the video).
You can then use this with your dog to create stillness in easy behaviours first- sit, down, stand etc. Then you can progress to more complex behaviours.
Here Ki is learning a new trick (can you guess what it is? π) and I needed her to put the cup down carefully and not push it around or knock it over. So it was a great opportunity to use a little reverse luring! It really can be a great shortcut to stillness and duration in so many behaviours once understood βΊοΈ

ππ And finally π Step 4 - Dress the tree! ππ
ππ Step 3 - Bauble to target!! ππ
This can be the toughest step but itβs the foundation of so many good tricks! So Iβll give you a few days with this one before the last stepπ₯°πͺ
πππ Step 2 - Nose touch to target πππ
