General information
Hi, and welcome to my page.
I am qualified with Peddymark to implant microchips and qualified with Vet Image Solutions to scan both dogs and cats to confirm pregnancy.
The key principles of Ultrasound are;
1 Confirm presence of gestational sacks
2 Confirm normal development
3 Identify any concerns and referring to a vet (this often includes an often fatal infection called a pyometra)
4 where possible identify gestational age to confirm approximate whelping date.
Counting puppies is not a key principle and is not a service I guarantee. There are several reasons for this, the three main reasons are that the sacks can be hidden behind each other and behind intenstines meaning often some are not visible. When scanning we are having to move the scanner around and it can be impossible to tell if the same sack has been seen from a different angle, or if it is a different sack meaning sometimes we would count one sack more than once. And thirdly, Bi***es can reabsorb pups even at this stage meaning we could have seen more than there are going to be.
For these reasons, no qualified scanner will guarantee numbers in a litter. We can only tell you what we think your dog may be carrying.
As long as we have confirmed pregnancy and confirmed normal development and ruled out any concerns, we have done the job we are being paid to do.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
