Tip Tuesday 🌱
January is a great time to organize your seeds for the upcoming growing season. One thing that we tried to be more diligent about over the past year is marking our seed packets with expiration dates. We will look up how long each type of seed is viable and then mark the expiration date on the seed packet based on when we purchased the seed.
I also create calendars (one for personal and one for the biz) to help me stay on track. I'm a visual person so a tangible calendar helps me. I'm looking into different apps to help with this. Let me know if you have one to recommend. I use the calendars to keep me on track for when to start seeds indoors vs. direct sow, when to cold stratify seeds, etc.

ONE WEEK UNTIL OUR CATALOG LAUNCH!!! 🥳
The catalog will launch Monday, January 13! Those on our email list will receive a digital copy, but we'll also post here on our page, so long as technology cooperates. As like last year, we are going to start concentrating more on pre-orders for seedlings. Pre-orders help us plan and eliminate guesswork or waste. Yes, we will still offer some seedlings at the stand in May; however, it may not be a substantial amount. Pre-orders also help you plan so you know exactly what you're going to grow this season. This also helps you eliminate winging it as you stop by to see what's available, only to find we already sold out of the variety you had hoped for. It happens a lot and we hate to see a gardener bummed out about not being able to grow something they wanted.
We'll also have a special offer for all catalog pre-orders. So stay tuned and mark your calendars!!

If you do not see the plant/variety that you are looking for in our catalog, please reach out to us with your custom order. We can start the veggie/herb seedlings that you're looking for. Our dining room table has become our office work station over the past few weeks. Sooo much logistical planning, brainstorming, and research is happening. It’s overwhelming in various ways (so many choices), but oh, so exciting. The only issue has been figuring out where to sit so we can eat. 😄

There may be snow on the ground, but we have seeds arriving and we are getting excited to grow in 2025! This is a new variety that we’re going to try out next year.

Kicking off the weekend with our Buy One Get One Free Special on all tomato and pepper plants!! So that’s $2.50 for two plants! Mix and match! Transplanting Tomato Plants

Here’s a quick tutorial on how we transplant our “leggy” tomato plants. We use the trench method rather than digging a deep hole. The end result is that only a few inches of the plant are sticking out of the ground. When we lay the plant in the trench, we are going with the natural curve of the plant to determine how it’s going to stick out of the ground and not forcing it. Happy Growing!
