Our family pup Gizmo had surgery about a month ago and has been having a rough recovery. His tail refuses to wag anymore, and back legs are giving out. If anyone has any recommendations on how to help him please let me know! His tail is stuck straight down and its normally up in the air wagging all day. Hes very uncomfortable and in pain but vets can’t figure out what’s wrong ❤️ any recommendations we appreciate!

BARCS is located at 2490 Giles Rd., Baltimore, MD 21225. We are open from 2-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

Weight: 81 lbs.
Highlight: She is housetrained! Arabella walks well on her leash. She has already learned to 'sit'.

🐶 Name: Osita (middle row, left)
Age: 4 years old.
Weight: 70 lbs.
Highlight: She is housebroken! Osita is bonded to her brother Talin.

🐶 Name: Talin (bottom row, left)
Age: 5 years old.
Weight: 70 lbs.
Highlight: Talin is housetrained! Walks well on his leash, and is bonded with his sister Osita.

🐶 Name: Bowser (top row, middle)
Age: 9 years old.
Weight: 66 lbs.
Highlight: Bowser is housetrained! He is playful with other pups and enjoys chase play.

🐶 Name: Houston (top row, middle)
Age: 1 year-old.
Weight: 49 lbs.
Highlight: Houston is great on a leash and loves to sniff around and explore. He's always excited to try out the agility equipment and show off his perfect 'sit'.

🐶 Name: Consuela (top row, right)
Age: 5 years old.
Weight: 48 lbs.
Highlight: Reportedly good walking with her leash, she's housetrained and politely enjoys treats!

🐶 Name: Cherry Cola (middle row, right)
Age: 2 years old.
Weight: 56 lbs.
Highlight: He is known for his curiosity and keen sense of smell during his walks, where he is said to walk well on his leash.

🐶 Name: Cielo and Nairobi (bottom row, right)
Age: 2 and 1 years old.
Weight: 55 and 42 lbs.
Highlight: These two pups are best buds and need to find a home together. They're absolute sweethearts and love nothing more than frolicking in the yard, especially when there's a ball involved.

Waived Adoption Fees for All Animals this Weekend!

If you've been searching for a new furry friend, this weekend is a great time to adopt. Patient First is generously sponsoring all of the adoption fees for every animal March 1-3! This includes animals in the shelter, in foster homes and at offsite events.

As Baltimore’s only open-admission shelter, BARCS cannot and will not turn away an animal in need. The shelter has continually been at or over capacity with so many dogs coming through our doors each day. Patient First heard our plea, and has stepped up to help more animals leave BARCS and find loving homes.

The event will take place onsite at BARCS Animal Shelter located at 2490 Giles Road, Baltimore, MD 21225 during regular operating hours. BARCS is open from 2-6 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekends. Adoption fees will also be waived at any offsite events. The $10 license fee still applies to Baltimore City residents.
