World Honey Bee Day is a crucial reminder of the vital role honey bees play in our ecosystem and food supply.
These incredible pollinators are responsible for one-third of the food we eat, contributing to the growth of fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Without honey bees, our diets and biodiversity would suffer greatly.
Celebrating World Honey Bee Day helps raise awareness about the importance of protecting these essential creatures from threats like habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change.
By supporting honey bee conservation, we can ensure a healthy, thriving environment for future generations.🐝🐝

It's day!
Is your pet's chip up-to-date?

On , we're sharing a few important reminders on the importance of microchips - such as:

➡ 1 in 3 family pets will get lost
➡ Microchipped dogs are more than twice as likely to be returned to their owners and microchipped cats are more than 20 times as likely to be returned to their owners

And remember - while microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen…a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate.

Dogs are the ultimate in family pets but have you ever wondered if a lizard would be a good fit for your family?

Reptiles can be a great alternative for those who are allergic to furred or feathered friends, but it's essential to research their care as they can have specific needs and varying temperaments.
Some reptiles enjoy handling, while others prefer to be observed from a distance, and their caging and care requirements can change as they grow, impacting their suitability for your lifestyle.
Additionally, some reptiles may bite or be venomous, and certain species may require permits or be prohibited as pets, so it's important to check local regulations before bringing one home.
Your veterinarian, especially one experienced with reptiles, is the best resource for evaluating your new pet's health and advising on proper care, including nutrition, parasite control, and housing.
Schedule an initial wellness exam to check your reptile’s overall health and screen for parasites, while also discussing quarantine procedures before introducing the reptile to other pets.
If you find the reptile is no longer a good fit for your family, consult your veterinarian or a reptile specialist to find a new home, and never release it into the wild.

Before adopting any pet, thoroughly research their needs and consult a veterinarian to ensure proper care and feeding for a healthy and happy life.

If you find yourself doubting how far you can go, take a moment to reflect on the journey you've already traveled.
Think about the challenges you've overcome, the obstacles you've faced, and the growth you've experienced along the way. Every step you've taken has brought you to where you are now, and each of those steps is proof of your resilience and determination.
In those moments of doubt, remind yourself of the strength you've shown in the past and let that fuel your belief in how much further you can go. Your journey is a testament to your ability to persevere, so trust in your progress and keep moving forward.

What do you do when self-doubt creeps in?
I always try to remind myself that no matter what, my goal is to help as many dogs as possible live healthy, Optimal lives!❤🐶

Treating fascia in dogs is crucial for maintaining their overall health and well-being. Fascia, a connective tissue that envelops muscles, organs, and other structures within the body, plays a vital role in supporting and stabilizing these components. When fascia becomes restricted or inflamed due to injury, overuse, or age, it can lead to pain and reduced mobility. By addressing fascial health through techniques such as massage, stretching, and myofascial release, we can alleviate discomfort and improve a dog's range of motion, allowing them to move more freely and comfortably.

Healthy fascia is essential for optimal muscle function and coordination. When fascia is tight or damaged, it can create imbalances and compensatory patterns in a dog's movement, potentially leading to further injuries or chronic pain. For active dogs, especially those involved in sports or agility activities, maintaining pliable and healthy fascia ensures they perform at their best and recover more quickly from physical exertion. Additionally, treating fascia helps in preventing the development of musculoskeletal issues that can arise from prolonged periods of inactivity or improper posture.

Beyond physical health, treating fascia can positively impact a dog's emotional and psychological well-being. Chronic pain and restricted movement can cause stress and anxiety in dogs, affecting their behavior and quality of life. By ensuring that fascia is healthy and functioning correctly, we can help reduce pain and discomfort, leading to a more relaxed and content pet. Regular fascial care promotes overall health, enhances the bond between pet and owner through therapeutic touch, and contributes to a happier, healthier life for dogs.

I am honored to be invited as a speaker at the upcoming International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care conference, where I will be presenting "Managing Degenerative Myelopathy: Quality of Life to the End."

Degenerative myelopathy (DM) is a non-painful but fatal disease affecting many dog breeds. However, compensatory pain can arise and must be addressed. Twenty years ago, dogs diagnosed with DM were expected to live only 6 to 12 months before their quality of life significantly diminished. Today, we see dogs living 3 to 5 years post-diagnosis. With early diagnosis and prompt treatment initiation, we can significantly improve both the quality of life and lifespan for these dogs. In this lecture, we will explore early diagnosis and various treatment options, including physical rehabilitation, laser therapy, and other modalities.

I look forward to engaging with a passionate and knowledgeable audience, sharing insights and advancing our collective efforts to support and care for these beloved pets.

Itchy Pet Awareness Month is an important time for us to focus on the comfort and well-being of our furry friends.
As a veterinarian, I often see pets struggling with itching and discomfort that can affect their quality of life.
This month is a reminder to pay attention to the signs of itchiness in our pets, such as excessive scratching, licking, or biting.
These symptoms can be caused by allergies, parasites, skin infections, or other underlying issues. Addressing these problems promptly not only brings relief to our pets but also strengthens the bond we share with them.
If you notice any of these signs of itching in your pet, please don't hesitate to reach out to your veterinarian.
Frequent licking, chewing, biting or scratching
Excessive rolling, rubbing or scooting
Recurrent ear problems
Hair loss
Body odor
Rash, redness, greasy skin or scabs

Together, we can ensure our beloved companions are happy, healthy, and itch-free!

National Mutt Day is a special occasion dedicated to celebrating the unique charm and endless love that mixed-breed dogs bring into our lives.
It’s a day to recognize the incredible diversity and resilience of mutts, who often make some of the most loyal and affectionate pets. Unfortunately, mixed-breed dogs are often overlooked in favor of purebred counterparts, leading to higher shelter populations. By adopting a mutt, you not only gain a wonderful companion but also help reduce overcrowding in shelters, giving these deserving dogs a second chance at a happy life.

Adopting from a shelter is one of the most compassionate and impactful decisions you can make. Shelter dogs, especially mutts, come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities, ensuring that there's a perfect match for every family. These dogs are often already house-trained and socialized, making the transition into your home smoother. Additionally, many shelters provide necessary medical care, including vaccinations and spaying/neutering, so your new pet is ready to thrive.
By choosing to adopt a mutt, you save a life and support the mission of shelters dedicated to animal welfare.
This National Mutt Day, visit your local shelter and if your family is ready for the commitment discover the joy of welcoming a loving, one-of-a-kind companion into your home.

Share your pics and stories of your adorable mutts!

International Friendship Day is a time to celebrate the connections that bring us closer to others, and it's also a great opportunity to appreciate the amazing friendship we share with dogs.
Dogs are often called "man's best friend" for a good reason—they're loyal, loving, and always there when we need them.
Whether they're greeting us with excitement after a long day or simply sitting by our side, dogs offer a kind of companionship that’s hard to match.
On this day, we not only celebrate our human friendships but also the special bond we share with our dogs, who teach us about loyalty, joy, and unconditional love.

How are you celebrating your best friend today?

30/07/2024

Training your dog can be hard at times.
Don't expect too much too soon and reward good behavior!
What's your greatest difficulty in training?
Attention span?😝
Running out of treats?😮
