Ferrets are strict carnivores, they require a diet of meat and animal products that are typically high in protein and fat, and low in carbohydrates and fiber. Ferrets have a short metabolism and need to eat every 3 to 4 hours, so keep food available 24/7. Raw meat is the best option, but they can also eat kitten food, as it has a high meat protein content, baby food that's high in meat protein, and dried ferret food that's high in meat protein. As for raw meats they can eat chicken, chicken wings, and stripped carcasses, turkey necks, rabbit, game birds, pigeons, minced beef, lamb, offal, and raw animal bones for calcium. Ferrets can also eat whole prey including mice, rats, and chicks. Foods you should never feed your ferret include, fruits and vegetables, xylitol, processed foods, dairy products, dog food, chocolate, junk food, cooked bones, grains, fish, and sugar. And never give your ferrets onions or garlic, both of these can make them sick or even kill them.
