Hehe, alle jongen zijn weer gesorteerd. Voor het weekend zal happymantis.com weer geüpdate zijn met de huidige voorraad. Super veel zin in om weer koppels aan te kunnen bieden!😍

Overigens bevat dit nog niet mijn kweekdieren of halfwas voor de kweek... om een ideetje te geven hoeveel werk het eigenlijk wel niet is. Een "korte" voerronde duurt al snel een uur of 2.

Hymenopus coronatus - Orchid Mantis

This nymph is L1, meaning it has only had one molt(directly whilst hatching). In 2-3 weeks, he will molt to second instar(L2) after which he will get his white and pinkish colors this species is famous for.

Pseudoharpax virescens virescens

A very interesting tiny species! This species will take on relatively big prey, even though it can be kept communally quite well. This is a subadult male, easily visible by the thick antenna that they use to detect pheromones of females. Also, there are extra segments on the underside of the abdomen.

Chloroharpax Modesta! This "Nigerian Flower Mantis" is really cool. It is quite similar to Creoboter species in my opinion. We have only 1 mated female, so hopefully that is enough to produce some offspring for us!

Idolomantis diabolica, one of the coolest and hardest species to keep. It was so awesome to see it mature! They remind me of a pokemon, unreal that insects like this exist.

Remember my last post, with the hatching peacock mantises? Well, they have grown well in the couple of weeks after that event! These Pseudempusa pinnapavonis can even be kept communally until subadult if fed plenty.
Plenty of these nymphs are available for those in Europe, send me a message if you happen to want more information.

Hatch Pseudempusa pinnapavonis - Peacock mantis

I was able to capture a small part of the hatching of this species. The oothecas of this species can hatch 100+ nymphs. Seeing this in real life is so impressive. It remains to amaze me how these nymphs can fit in an ootheca and then all hatch at the same time.

Creoboter gemmatus - Jeweled flower mantis

This has to be one of the greatest beginner mantises. They are very hardy and remain a small size, whilst displaying agressive behaviour towards prey. It is also a flower mantis that is commonly found in south-east Asia.
Breeding these was the first time for me. The first few males were poor at connecting, but eventually I received a male who was a real casanova. He mates 3 or 4 females, which have produced the first oothecas and nymphs. On picture 2 you can see her being proud on her ootheca.

Hymenopus coronatus - Malaysian Orchid Mantis

Nymphs and oothecas available✅

This mantis can be found in... Malaysia🤭, as well as in other parts of Southeast asia. It is probably the most well known mantis there is by the bigger public. It mimics an orchid flower, with the legs looking like petals. This mantis prefers flying food and is best kept in the 20 to 25C range. Humidity should be slightly elevated, around 70/80%. Make sure there is enough ventilation, otherwise funghi and bacteria will form quickly at this humidity.

The ghost mantis might be the best beginner mantis out there. It is very hardy and can tolerate a wide range of humidity and temperature. It is widely found across Africa and Madagascar. This species can be Black, several brown colors and sometimes even green.

Helvia cardinalis - Yellow orchid mantis

My favourite species, very docile and timid. Great small species, comparable to Hymenopus (orchids). Their color is amazing and usually yellow, but can vary slightly. This flower species is more and more sought after, and together with I am trying to make this species more common in the hobby. The first nymph of this season has been born already.
