Selling all my incubators to get a bigger one. One hova-bator 2370, bought last year and used for 5 hatches, moved all the eggs to my hatching incubator so no birds have been hatched in it. One Hova-bator 1586 wafer style, it’s older but still works perfect, I hatched some birds in it this fall. One Nurture right 360, I’ve hatched a lot in it but is still perfect. One Hova-bator 42 egg turner, and one farm innovators 42 egg incubator. Prices on the pictures and pictures of the same products from online. Pick up in Tifton Ga or can ship at buyers expense

My almost 5 year project with marans has finally made strides I can see. On the left is my first marans ever and the start of my line. On the right is the male I’m keeping back this year(his hackle is darker than shown but it was weird lighting when I took the picture last night) Breed hard and cull harder!

The only two marans I’m keeping back this year out of the 75+ I hatched. There were some others that were ok but I feel that these two will help improve my program the most. . Both have their strengths and weaknesses but they are just a piece in the puzzle

Finally got my “quarantine project” done. A three tier cage set, each tier is 6x2x2. My three bald females in the top, two batches of chicks in the middle, and 4 buff females on the bottom, still have a few finishing touches like LED strip lights in the cages and fans for each one. I like it so far

Some chicks got moved into the new brooder to see how they like it, right now it seems like their favorite part is the feeder

3 marans out of the first batch I’m liking. Females are 2 incredibly different styles and later down the line I hope to get a mix of both. Male looks like his dad but with a deeper body already.

My 2 “oops” babies. One I guess I just counted the day wrong and somehow put him in the incubator early. The other was from a broody sitting on a single egg. Now they just chill together in a brooder until they can go into the big boy pens

Pen 1 of marans scratching in the dirt. This pen is where I think my best babies will come out of. Male is the son of my “foundation” male “Lucifer”. He is over 2 of his sisters, his mom, and an unrelated female.

Main project today was to clean up the marans area. Let pen 1 out. I got most everything done, just a few more things like cleaning pens, moving some grow outs over, and cleaning their water. Long term I hope to put a shelter over this area, get automatic waterers, add one more of the marans pens (they are just dog kennel panels from tractor supply), add another panel to each pen to make them 10x5, and make this the main grow out area.

2 little bantam Cochin females I got. Both are out of conditioning and trimmed a little for breeding but I like their size. They are bantams for a reason. And one female has great width

“Looked over” (not much to look over at this age) the first 2 hatched of marans today. Noticed lots of improvements to type already but color...... that’s a sore subject. Hope to hatch a ton more. If all the hatches go like these first two did.... let’s just say lots of meat birds and laying hens a will be available
