10 years of my life all boxed up and ready for its new owner. May it bring them as much joy as it brought me. I have decided to retire from my whelping services. While I will still train dogs through dog classes, I will no longer be whelping litters of my own or for outside breeders. It is bittersweet but the right move for me.

Exciting news- we are working on our AKC Fit Dog Instructor certification and are excited to offer Fit Dog classes next spring. Fit Dog is a canine conditioning program that helps your dog work on building muscle, improve balance and overall fitness. While we will work on “skills” such as tuck sit, nose touch, paw “shake” and more, the goal is to engage your dogs core and work on proper structure and form to help your dog remain physically and mentally healthy!

With too much to do, I debated up to the last moment whether or not to even go to today’s trial. But, I knew it would be good for River to experience the “chaos” of a rally trial and she did amazing. At 6 months old, she managed to get two qualifying runs (at 3rd and 4th place). We will have to wait for another trial to title since we can’t go back tomorrow but I am glad we went today!

It's official - we had a class full of Good Dogs. :). What an amazing group of humans and dogs we had this summer in our Canine Good Citizen classes - this was the final session but we will plan on starting up again in the Spring - watch this page for details.

Thanks to Twisted Clovers LLC for our evaluation today. Turn Key Ridge River Meets the Skye (River) passed her evaluations for CGC, CGCA, and CGCU today. While she definitely had moments of “puppy brain,” overall I was very proud of this 6 month old!

Does anyone have a student at Wartburg (or UNI, but that's a bit of a drive for this type of thing) that would be interested in some "here and there" work of doing dog chores? It wouldn't be anything regular - but some weekday work of letting dogs out for potty breaks about halfway through the day and some possible weekends of doing the same, with returning for feeding supper. Must be responsible, love dogs (we have 5!!) and willing to drive on a gravel road. There is also the possibility of some extended house sitting during times we are on vacation in which they get to enjoy country living (while getting paid!). If you know of anyone who might be interested - have them shoot me a message.

Decisions, decisions… Trying to decide if River (or Eden) should show at this rally trial. We could not title because I can’t do the second day due to a speaking engagement for work. And this is the weekend before the wedding…but could be a little day of fun.

The weather is just too nice not to get some outside training in! Eden is starting to get the hang of carting. We both have a lot learning to do in this area, but everyone starts out as a beginner. :)

Thanks to Dan Sanderman for helping me build a project Inhave wanted for so long - a grooming table so I don’t keep killing my back by grooming 5 labs!!!
