Project Minnie

Project Minnie is an organization dedicated to helping feed homeless animals with homeless guardians. Food stamps and other aid can't be used to buy pet food.

For many homeless people, there only source of reliable companionship and love are their pets, but they struggle to feed them properly. Project Minnie provides food, reusable water bowls, leashes, harnesses and collars to homeless animals with homeless guardians.

To respect the privacy of the folks we serve, we rarely include images of pets with their guardians. However, the is undeniable in so many of the little families we support. For many, their pets are their purpose, their security, and their safe space. This year, we have experienced a drop in donations and an increase in cost. Does anyone remember Cassius? We have known him for over 10 years. He is in photo #1. The legendary Rocky and Luna are in photo #2. We also got shots of Baby Girl, Lightening, and Dita. So many beautiful and sweet dogs in Venice. We have had a lot of medical cases lately and food prices have gone up buy more than 45% in the past couple years. We went through almost 30 bags of food and distributed lots of supplies (water bowls, harnesses, collars, flea treatment). The last photo is puppy Gemma, who is healing, thanks to and . Because of our generous donors, we were able to get her a harness, bed, soft cone, and special puppy food.

Puppy Gemma, who had been passed around the boardwalk and had a badly broken leg and foot, had surgery on Friday. An enormous thank you to and Dr. Margie Smith for helping give this girl the life changing surgery she needed. We saw Gemma yesterday. She's in good spirits and as sweet as can be. ❤️

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Barneck third grade class at . This wonderful group of students sold goods to raise money for Project Minnie. They raised hundreds of dollars, helping pets of the homeless in Venice stay healthy and happy.

This beautiful one year old boy is living in a junkyard and has an injured leg from being hit by a car. .gato.rescue will sponsor him and pay for his care, but they need a committed foster. What an incredible day. joined us to provide free vaccines and exams to pets of the unhoused in Venice. The dogs and their guardians were so grateful to the amazing Dr. Margaret and vet tech Obeth. We are delighted they will be joining us monthly to help the boardwalk pups stay healthy. ❤️
