ugh the years. When Echo crossed the rainbow bridge there was a emptiness created throughout our family. This lead us to www.luckyk9.org an amazing rescue that truly puts dogs together with the people they are meant to be with. Lucky K9 introduced us to Zorro and Vada and in the process rekindled my passion for working with dogs. I have since spent many hours attending webinars, watching training seminars, and have completed the “Pet Empowerment: Safe Handling Skills” course from The Academy OF Pet Careers. I believe that enrichment and exercise will create a happy and healthy best friend for the whole family to enjoy. I will treat your pet with the love and care they deserve.

Spring Break Bubble Day! 🥳🐾

Bronx is available for adoption and will make a great addition to your family. He needs a couple visits and he will be your bestie. Please put in app and set up a meeting. He has only had one app in the 350+ days he has been at the shelter, so put in a app and help me introduce him to more people. He loves to play fetch and tug and alters his intensity of play depending on the situation. He loves playing with other dogs and is making great strides on loose leash walking. He does great when in the car or at the store and loves to go along.
If you need a bestie/cuddle buddy apply here today to meet Bronx

Pay attention to emotions and timing when training a fearful dog. Here's what to do.

Our next Employee of the Week is Echo! 💕

This gorgeous girl has been with Five Acres, either in the shelter or a foster home, for almost 600 days, but her smile is still shining bright! Echo is a lab/pit mix nearing her fifth birthday, and she is eagerly looking for her perfect adopter. To her, that would be a home with adults who are willing to give endless belly rubs and don't have any other pets. Echo deserves a wonderful home where she will be loved and taken care of.

Our weekly awards have been revamped, and Mia Farrow is the first to be showcased as Employee of the Week! 🐾

Mia is a super sweet, 1 year old pittie looking for her forever family! She is extremely smart and energetic, so she would make an awesome exercise partner. Mia will never miss a chance to cover your face in kisses and is very lovable! She is considered dog selective.

Great collars and a Great Cause

Great collars and a Great Cause

After the loss of the amazing Penny, I’m determined more than ever to make sure Lincoln (Penny’s brother) is with us as long as possible. He’s had quite a few health concerns for quite a while so I always thought Penny would surely survive him. We’ve had quite a few pretty pricy vet procedures lately and will be needing more so I’m back on my collar hustle!
Now through the end of September, I’ll be offering free shipping on everything in my currently available album or free plant clippings with PPU. 🪴

To the animals’ detriment, shelters are refusing to fully open to the public. A growing number of municipal pounds are requiring appointments and have announced their intention of making this policy permanent.

There are a lot of reasons why this is dangerous for animals, including that public scrutiny keeps neglect and abuse in check. Rescuers, potential adopters, volunteers, and other members of the public are the eyes, ears, and heart of the community. If they are not allowed to visit the facility unannounced, animals will suffer in silence. That’s not conjecture; it’s history.

Coco and Rocco are sharing the title this week! 🏆

This gorgeous pair was found tied to the deck at Five Acres. They are two and a half year old pitties who love climbing all over each other to get closer to the humans! Coco and Rocco are energetic and playful with an endless supply of sloberry kisses! They would be great additions to any home, and they would do well with kids.

You can apply to meet Coco and Rocco here: fiveacresanimalshelter.org/adopt 🐾

Have a new dog? Keep them safe by staying outside with them and keeping them on a leash even in a fenced in yard. Always on a leash if you have no fence.

Until the dog is comfortable and you know if they are an escape artist, we need to be extra cautious.

Too many newly adopted dogs or new foster dogs end up escaping and lost. They do not understand and many need time to decompress.
