Organic eggies courtesy of our very own backyard hens! Tommy dived right in while the others were more hesitant. Eggs are important during seasonal changes as these guys are switching coats. Soon, the weather will be cool enough to bring them back outside and hopefully they will have their very own ferret run to hang out in and get fresh air during the day.

the vet tech that did her procudure today forgot to take her new weight down for me 🤦🏼‍♀️ but since she’s started prednisolone (a form of prednisone) she’s gotten sooo chunky and fluffy! can’t wait to see what she looks like once her brand new implant kicks in 😍

Ruby aka Rubix Cube, Roobadoobs, Roo Roo wasn’t feeling too good last week (I’m suspecting insulinoma—sort of like ferret diabetes) but she’s gotten some TLC and is feeling a little better already! It’s funny to me that our two queen bees are sick but they still absolutely run the show!

The Spice Girls 🌶✨

Left: Sugar (1 year old) aka Chooger or Sugar Bear, the sweetest ferret of the entire bunch! She loves sliding down anything and everything on her belly, rolls over for belly rubs, and has a huuuge pudgy winter belly even though she’s the second smallest of the group 😁

Middle: Cinnamon! (2 years old) aka Simmanims 😀 We already introduced her but I want to highlight her again because she’s just so dang cute!

Right: SPICE! 🥵 (2 years old) Spicy girl’s probably the most aptly named ferret. She can be the sweetest little thing but when you aren’t paying attention…. CHOMP. Most likely right on the chin or cheek 🥲 Spice was the scariest case that we took on, she was really small to begin with but when she came to live with us, she really wasn’t doing well at all. While her sisters had settled in just fine, Spice stopped eating and drinking and would hardly even get up. Their amazing daddy would sit there multiple times a day and syringe feed her food and water until she started eating on her own. Now, she’s in perfect health, she’s our BIGGEST female (even bigger than Eddie!) and she eats, plays, explores, and bites like a champ 🤍

Intro number 5!

Cinnamon 🤍

The “spice girls” came to us as a set of three! Cinnamon, Sugar, and Spice! Cinnamon was the first to settle in and really open up, and just look how cute she is! She makes a ”grr” face when she’s eating her ferret soup and it’s so adorable it should be illegal. Cinnamon is 2 years old and a sweetheart but she can also hang with the rebellious boys. I mean, just look at her. She’s perfect 😍

SPOTLIGHT #4: Obi-Wan Kenobe aka Beau!

Don’t ask me why he has two names, I dunno. Beau man is our only albino and at the time he was the biggest ferret we had ever seen! (Tommy outgrew him by a long shot shortly after). He’s got all the classic characteristics of albinism, red eyes and and almost vanilla colored coat! Don’t let his appearance fool you, though. He’s just like any other ferret, if not even more mischievous. Eddie, Tommy, and Beau form our gang of trouble makers and they are always up to something. I couldn’t even find any pictures of just him because he’s always on the go! He’s extra noodly when he’s asleep and has a tendency to tumble out of bed. He’s also one of two biters we have in our colony. The second you aren’t paying attention he will come over and sneak a love chomp. He tends to go for my thighs 🥲

Beau’s story is our first truly heartbreaking one. Beau lived in a basement in a rat or hamster cage (we aren’t really sure) and was being cared for by a teenager who loved him so so much but simply couldn’t care for him properly without help. His surrender was by far the hardest to be a part of and we make sure that his original dad gets plenty of updates. We anticipated that Beau would have a rough transition but he actually surprised us and settled right in with Eddie, Tommy, and ol’ Girly! He has no fear and loves to try to escape his room. We have to be careful opening the door because he’s always there ready to bolt!
