Going forward I will no longer accept deposits on any animal without transport being lined up first. While I understand good transport is getting harder to find, I cannot hold animals indefinitely for buyers to shop around. I also may have to begin charging a boarding type fee if animals cannot leave within a certain time frame. I have yet to decide what that will look like but when we're talking large breed rabbits that go thru alot of food and take up cage space I just can't keep doing it.

Just to reiterate another reason I refuse to use CHB transport again... their July route goes right thru the new RHDV2 hot zone in FL. They are not adjusting their route nor are they refunding those who have already paid transport that don't feel comfortable with this. They claim a health certificate within 30 days or transport is all that's needed. Sorry but no a health certificate does not guarantee a rabbit has not come in contact with RHDV2 nor does it mean you can't expose rabbits to it by trading thru a hot zone. This is extremely poor business and extremely irresponsible and unsafe!

02/07/2022

This is my personal review of CHB transport from their first large run. I was going to post it sooner but I knew it would take some dedicated time to get it all together, and I wanted to be sure their run was complete and animals off board. I chose CHB to get a 4 month holland jr buck to me as well as to deliver 2 jr elop bucks to my buyer. I also used them to get 10 mice (8 does and 2 bucks) from a well known breeder. My holland and mice were supposed to be on for roughly 10 days and the elops for 2-3 days. My mice were picked up June 6th and my holland was picked up June 8th. My mouse breeder setup the 8 does in 1 large container and the 2 bucks in a smaller container with a divider and sent me pics and video of them in their tubs just before they were handed off so i could see them all. Holland breeder sent pics of him before he left as well showing him healthy. As the run began I quickly felt uneasy due to poor communication and daily delays including vehicle break down and moving everything into a Home Depot rental van. Several days in I saw the problem someone else had with skinny pigs which ended up in police being called, and someone also had mice arrive sounding sick. Myself and the breeders and my buyers were nervous and asking for updates and pic of the animals. Promises of updates and pics were made but not followed thru on. My meeting day/time got changed and pushed back several times. A few days before I was to meet them I finally got a couple pics and realized my 2 buck mice were together on one side of the tub! Not ok! I addressed it either Amanda and she told me they breached the divider on day one of transport, yet she never reached out to myself or the breeder to ask what we would want done. I ok'ed her to put a specific male into the tub with my females which she did. From the pic of my holland he seemed ok but it was a front facing pic so hard to tell. She said he was doing good, eating and drinking and getting hay daily. Fast forward to thr weekend of June 18/19 and my nerves are frayed hoping my animals are alive and ok... they said would be June 20th but the day before more delays and I was told it would be late on the 20th like possibly 10pm which isn't ideal for us but we would make it work. The 20th more delays and they said 7am on the 21st and we agreed on a location closer to me that was still on their route since I was the only one meeting for that stop... 7am got changed to 8am... I got no updates after they made their last stop on the 20th which was frustrating. Had they made the last stop? Nothing in the group chat to confirm they did or didn't. I wake up the 21st early still planning on 8am... not knowing if they were gonna be there or not. Just before 8am I get an update that they're still a half hour away. Apparantly Amandas husband was driving and Amanda sleeping so this message came from Alyssa. They arrive and first hand me my mouse tubs... the smaller has my 1 buck and the larger tub I do a quick head count and see 9 mice (presumed to be my 8 does and 1 buck that i had ok'ed them to put with the does) I wasn't about to open a tub of 9 mice in a gas station parking lot. I spot 2 pied in the tub and hairless and other colors at quick glance look right so tubs go into my truck. They then proceed to give me my holland and she has to ask me which one is mine because the carriers are not marked in any way. I verify his tattoo and she hands him to me... I can feel every bone in his body! She doesn't say a word about his condition. I ask for his feed and she says we ran out and that whats in his bowl is the last of it. Hmmm ok but not the end of thr world. I then give them my 2 elop jr bucks (both tattoo and feed bags full gallon ziplocks with my name, buyer name and description of rabbit) I tell her which goes to which buyer... one is a harli and one a white ear harli. Ok finally this transaction is over! I get in my truck to leave but immediately message the Holland breeder about his condition and the no feed... mind you her nor I werenever told he was "running out of food". Shes furious and says there's no way he ate all the food she sent and proceeds to send me a photo of the exact bucket she sent his food in. A 3 gallon bucket over half full which would have been at least 4 weeks of food for him probably more! I message Amanda and she maintains that they ran out and that my rabbit ate it all and also claims it was a small 1 gallon bucket. I'm livid at this point as is the breeder. There is absolutely NO WAY my rabbit went thru all that feed and still arrived skin and bones! Had they spilled his food? Fed other rabbits with it? No idea and of course Amanda maintained that they ran out and only my tabbit was fed from that bucket. I did see that they were using small free standing dishes for food (not attached cage cups) as well as small water bottles vs cage cups. Maybe my bunny was dumping his food vs eating it? Yet there still should have been food left to give me. I get home and get him and the mice inside. I am concerned about this little boy... I get him into a quarantine cage with water (with probiotics and electrolytes) and hay and then a small dish of rolled oats... he immediately starts eating and drinking... I weigh him... hes 1lb 7oz! With him situated I get the mouse tubs into their quarantine room... remove soiled veggies/fruit from the tubs, add a hide and water and food... the bedding doesn't feel wet and I don't hear any respiratory noises so IMO I felt it best to let them be and settle for a few days before handling. The next day my holland has loose stool (just from hay, oats and water!) Which tells me he had stopped eating or wasn't being fed and even hay, oats and water was shocking his G.I. I gave him Fox Valley Diastat (amazing product that I think all breeders should have!!!) Which firmed up his stool in under 12 hours! After a few days I introduced pellets with the oats and hay... again as expected loose stool so more Diastat. Within a few days on June 26th Sunny D (named my holland) had gained 2 ounces and was doing good with no more loose stool... today he is 1lb 13oz and still continuing to improve! I feel like I got lucky because i don't think he would have survived another day with them! Amanda stopped replying even tho I gave her updates on Sunny D... she obviously didn't care.

Ok now the mice... after letting them settle for 2 days I decided to get them out oneat a time and look them over. Much to my surprise I discovered that although I had 2 pied does (I bought 2 pied) that one was not texel! And then looking at the other pied it didn't look right to me. All the others were the right mice. Immediately messaged the breeder... took pics and video of these 2 pied does to show her. She confirmed that neither of them were from her and that she had not sent any extras. Confused and frustrated at yet another transport issue I dump the bedding from the does transport tub... and under all the bedding discover a dried up dead mouse... its my pied texel! Again livid I message Alyssa and Amanda. It's clear that they put 2 different mice in my tub that were not fron my breeder. How else would I have received the correct number of mice yet also a dead one under the bedding? Of course no reply from Amanda although she's reading my messages. Alyssa gets nasty with me saying there's absolutely no way they put other mice in my tub and blames the breeder for sending me the wrong mice. She proceeds to say that only 3 people (including her and myself) had mice on the run, which is a blatant lie because I know at least 5 maybe even 6 people had mice on this run! She saysn2 of her 100 mice died but that everyone else got the right mice so again says absolutely no way 2 differentice ended up in my tub. I'm like are you not hearing me??? The buyer sent 8 does and 2 bucks... I received 8 does, 2 bucks and 1 dead mouse! That's one more than what was sent! She says she's tired of me complaining about everything and says I am making up bu****it, then says I'm not welcome to use their transport anymore and to stop contacting her!

Now... the 2 elops I sent... yup there's still more to this nightmare! The first to be dropped off was the white ear harli, buyer had to have her mom meet transport so mom didn't realize but they gave her the non white ear harli! They had to backtrack several hours to swap them out! I'm thinking what the hell? They were on for 2 days! They were tattoo! The feed bags clearly said my name, buyers name and color description of the rabbit! How do you mix them up? Of course yet again they take zero accountability and blame the buyer for not specifying "white ear" on her transport form and me for not marking them well??? How do you mix up a white ear and a non white ear? They don't look the same! Clearly they were not paying attention and again not having the carriers labeled at all created a mess! Alyssa said they had ordered cage tags that didn't arrive in time. Ok well guess what? Masking tape and a sharpie is very simple!

I have included pics of animals and conversations. I was blocked from the transport page and removed from the group chat so I don't have screen shots of that. I wish I had realized there was not a pied texel doenin my mouse tub right there in that parking lot to have confronted them! Their friend Audrey has made comments about me saying "oh that lady that didnt change her mice bin and bedding for a week?" So she's spreading their lies and is part of their drama. I have never even interacted with Audrey but have blocked her because I have zero business with her nor would I want to. I do not have Amanda or Alyssa blocked on FB only on messenger. These people claim to be a christian/family owned and operated transport. I cannot think of a worse example of Christianity! Lying, covering up their mistakes, blaming others, sketchy business!!!

My broken sable mini rex buck has officially been bred to my lilac fox doe for test breeding. This single pairing should hopefully tell me if he's hiding anything at B, D or E locus... most importantly at B locus! If no chocolates pop out then the litters he has already sired will be able to be kept or sent to new barns!

Garden 2022... no messing around this year! I'm not working and will be cooking and canning! These crazy prices on everything won't get us down! Tomatoes, peppers, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, various squash, onion, peas, green beans, sweet corn, celery and various leafy greens. And a NO GOOSE fence to keep those nosey butts out!

26/05/2022

Ok time for some policy updates. I put alot of time and money into my rabbitry and do not have time for tire kickers and pet buyers that change their mind after making a selection. I will no longer be regularly posting or sharing pictures of litters/kits. I will generally only be posting pics of rabbits that are ready to leave the barn. Rabbits will under no circumstance leave before 8 weeks of age for local sales and 12 weeks of age if using transport. I work with many different transports but it is the buyers responsibility to line up transport. If you've never used transport I am happy to point you in the right direction but from there it's your responsibility to make arrangements. i am willing to go up to 30 mins to meet transport or local buyers without charging for the time/gas cost but beyond that there will be a fee. Because I raise for show quality I do not have set prices on each breed/color/sex. I evaluate each rabbit as it grows to determine price. My preference is sales to a breeder or show family. I most likely will not be doing much if any pet sales going forward because i just don't have the time for it. I have plenty of outlets for the pet quality animals that pop up that are quicker and easier than dealing with pet sales. I have always and will continue to charge a 50% non refundable deposit to hold the rabbit of your choice. This means that if you change your mind you are out your deposit. I am happy to transfer the deposit one time to another available rabbit but beyond that your deposit will be lost if you change your mind again. If you should decide you no longer want a rabbit you purchased from me I request first right of refusal... meaning please let me know you no longer want the rabbit and give me the first opportunity to take it back. My time, space and money is not unlimited and with costs on feed, hay, electricity continuing to rise I cannot cater to people. We keep a closed rabbitry meaning no outside visitors for biosecurity reasons. The bunny barn is heated and cooled and kept shut aside from when we are cleaning. Thank you for your understanding.
