Cedar County League for Animal Welfare Cedar County League for Animal Welfare (CCLAW) is a group of concerned citizens helping animals. CCLAW is it's own foster entity. We recognize the Cedar Co.

Cedar County League of Animal Welfare (CCLAW) is a state licensed foster to adopt non profit 501c3 group of former rescue/shelter board members, employees, volunteers, and donors in Cedar Co., Iowa, but have also personally rescued animals most of our lives. ALL donations are tax deductible. animal control issues are a county wide problem. Our goal is always no kill unless deemed no other options

due to health or other extreme issues. We are working together with people throughout Cedar Co to help foster to adopt, care for and spay/neuter cats, pets or feral throughout our county. We also work countywide to help find homes for cats and dogs; feral, stray, and surrender. All animals are placed in foster homes for care, recovery, taming, etc... until adopted. CCLAW also has a very positive relationship with many shelters and rescues throughout Iowa. This enables us to work together for the benefit of the animals. We recognize animal rescue is a team effort requiring good relationships and appreciation of one another.

CCLAW has been hard at work! We want to share with you a few of our recent rescues and TNVR babies that were made possible by your generous donations.

This poor baby (orange cat) was rescued in Wilton two days ago. He was injured while trying to stay warm under the hood of a car at the apartment complex where his colony lives. He was not only was he injured, but wet, cold, and very hungry. Today, he received veterinary attention for his wounds and was able to be neutered. He is now being fostered for a couple of days to rest up before being reunited with his friends.

At the same location, in the last 48 hours, we have trapped a gray long-hair cat that needs surgery to be fixed and was also very hungry / dehydrated.

Further, at the same location, we rescued a mother cat and her small kittens. Of course, they also need to be spayed / neutered and were cold, dehydrated, and hungry.

Rest assured, we have placed shelters with straw and a heated water bowl (both donated by CCLAW volunteers) at this location to ensure they are warm/safe, hydrated, and well-fed upon their return to their familiar territory.

As you know, these efforts require dedication and many resources from our volunteers, but NONE of these things would be possible without your donations! PLEASE, keep the donations coming. You ARE making a difference.

IT’S CYBER MONDAY and the season for giving! Please consider looking at our Amazon wishlist and links to the Tomahawk website for items that we desperately need. Our non-profit is run by dedicated volunteers who rely on your help to accomplish our mission of preventing suffering through control of the homeless cat population by TNVR (trap/neuter/vaccinate/release), rescuing animals in need (including providing any necessary veterinary attention), and ensuring qualified foster placement until a forever home can be found.

The cats need CCLAW and we need YOU! 🐾

Our BIG wish list items are:
⭐️ Microchip scanner (allows us to ensure that any pet who comes into our care is safely returned to their owner)
⭐️Food (dry kibble and pate) our TNVR and rescue cats often come to us malnourished and require prolonged periods of foster to regain their health
⭐️Litter (when you eat, well, you know….💩)
⭐️Flea/Tick/Deworming treatments (unfortunately, many of the cats come to us with such issues and may require ongoing care for a cure)
⭐️Tomahawk brand humane / live traps (necessary to ensure safe trapping and transport)
⭐️Monetary donations (tax exempt ID 862941524)! These are used for TNVR appointments ($35-$75 per appointment and we take multiple cats each week), emergency veterinary evaluation / treatment for ill or injured cats, reducing or waiving adoption fees, etc

🚨🐾🚨ATTENTION 🚨🐾🚨

CCLAW (Cedar County League for Animal Welfare) has made yet another rescue.

This sweet baby was at the laundromat in Tipton and a concerned citizen alerted us to it being there. When I got there it was scared, hiding, shivering, and very hungry. This baby has matted fur and is skinny. THIS is why TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return) is SO important. We can prevent suffering in this way by controlling the stray / homeless cat population!

As many are aware, this type of stuff is expensive, and unfortunately the number of babies that need our help only continues to grow. At this time, we do NOT receive funding from the city, county, or state. We rely on donations to keep going. A *single* spay/neuter surgery + vaccinations costs $35-$75 at the low cost clinic (Iowa Humane Alliamce) and we take multiple cats per week for surgery. If you are able to help in any way please let me know! We need help with the following:

*Foster homes
*Portable cat carriers (for vet visits / foster home transports)
*Large, collapsible, wire kennels
*Live traps (Tomahawk brand)
*Flea treatment
* Food (Purina brand dry kibble and wet food for kittens and adults)
*Litter (not the super fine kind, it’s very messy)
*Monetary donations (used for vet bills and to lower or waive adoption fees)

In light of Black Friday and all of the sales happening here is our CCLAW Amazon wish list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3DTTRPYFG9ZRY?ref_=list_d_wl_ys_list_1&filter=all&sort=default&viewType=list

Monetary donations can be send to my Venmo: (1543)

Now, we also need someone to step up and adopt this baby soon. I will have more of an update on age (under 1 year old), gender (probably female), and perceived temperament soon. 🐾

**THANK YOU SO MUCH, Theresa and Hailey for covering Anna’s bill! Any additional donations will be used to help cover neuter surgery for the tomcat trapped this week by Tipton Wal-Mart, and the spay surgery for the little calico that turned up and was trapped in one of the housing developments this week. She had some health concerns that required additional meds, but Sue is giving her the best care to get her feeling well!

UPDATE: Anna was seen today and was given a clean bill of health, other than some minor things attributed to “old age” that will need to be monitored. His vet bill was $80 and he received 1yr rabies vaccine and 3yr FVCRP.

Most people know we started focusing on TNR in Tipton around 4 years ago. What many don't realize is that approximately a decade ago, there was a brief time when IHA helped with a TNR project to fix some of the strays overrunning the "tractor graveyard" at the edge of Tipton. Most of these cats are long gone for various reasons (and a few that were missed back then were caught and fixed by us a few years ago). There are currently 4 of these original cats remaining, to our knowledge. One of them is "Anna", who was feral at the time Habitat For Humanity started building homes in the area. He has since been tamed and is cared for by residents living there now. (Yes, he is a "he", but had already been dubbed "Anna" long before he was tame enough to know this).

As Anna is now one of the oldest living TNR cats in Tipton, we want to make sure he stays in good health. He now spends most of his time indoors in the neighborhood, but has developed a cough. We took him to the low-cost wellness clinic to get his shots updated and they would not give them due to the cough. He has an appointment today at the vet to try to determine if he has any underlying illness, treat that, and then will need his shots updated. With the cost of his exam, we are hoping to keep everything under $150 total, assuming nothing major is wrong.

None of the families caring for him can cover his vet bills, so if you are willing and able to help out with Anna, donations can be sent via Paypal to [email protected] and marked "Anna", or via Venmo to , which will be direct to the volunteer taking him to his vet visit today.

We would very much like to avoid depleting CCLAWs dwindling funds, as the number of rescues lately has been so high, and adoptive homes are hard to find. Thank you!

Did you know that when you apply to adopt with us, you get the one-on-one guidance of an adoption counselor? We take the time to chat with you and match your expectations to the right rabbit. You can come to us with a rabbit in mind, but know that we will probably have you meet 2-3 other rabbits at the same time that may also be a good fit based on our conversation. We want you to make the best informed adoption possible, and you may be surprised by what rabbit you develop a connection with!

Have a bunny that needs a friend? We do bunny speed dating to help your bunny pick their new BFF.
