Cedar County League for Animal Welfare Cedar County League for Animal Welfare (CCLAW) is a group of concerned citizens helping animals. CCLAW is it's own foster entity. We recognize the Cedar Co.

Cedar County League of Animal Welfare (CCLAW) is a state licensed foster to adopt non profit 501c3 group of former rescue/shelter board members, employees, volunteers, and donors in Cedar Co., Iowa, but have also personally rescued animals most of our lives. ALL donations are tax deductible. animal control issues are a county wide problem. Our goal is always no kill unless deemed no other options

due to health or other extreme issues. We are working together with people throughout Cedar Co to help foster to adopt, care for and spay/neuter cats, pets or feral throughout our county. We also work countywide to help find homes for cats and dogs; feral, stray, and surrender. All animals are placed in foster homes for care, recovery, taming, etc... until adopted. CCLAW also has a very positive relationship with many shelters and rescues throughout Iowa. This enables us to work together for the benefit of the animals. We recognize animal rescue is a team effort requiring good relationships and appreciation of one another.

PLEASE do not refer to a friendly cat as "feral" simply because he lives outside. The word feral means the exact opposite 🔁 of friendly and describes temperament ONLY.

Feral DOES NOT refer to a cat who is:
❌ Dirty
❌ Ear-tipped
❌ Homeless
❌ Unaltered
❌ Injured

🤔 A feral cat can be all those things, but those things don't make him feral.

❗️ The words feral and friendly describe temperament ONLY ❗️

Feral DOES refer to a cat who is:
🐈‍⬛ Unhandleable
🐈‍⬛ Unsocialized to humans
🐈‍⬛ Fearful of people
🐈‍⬛ More comfortable visiting at night

You may be asking yourself, "What difference does it make?".

Since adult "feral" cats are not socialized to people, they are likely to be euthanized if brought to shelters, so it is in their best interest to continue living outdoors. TRAP NEUTER RETURN is their best option for a better life. "Friendly" outdoor cats who are thriving and don’t have identification indicating they are lost can be fixed and returned to their outdoor home or fostered and adopted after a stray hold period.

Spay and Neuter, Spay and Neuter, Spay and Neuter!!

SO many innocent kittens are born on the streets every day, they're vulnerable to SO many things and SO many won't survive 😭

Rescues are full, rescuers are tired, purrlease get involved yourselves and do whatever you can to help as well... DO NOT WAIT for a solution to magically appear 💫

Release from 1 of 6 today. Trips to Cedar Rapids IHA 4 times this week with 5-8 daily. Thank you for donations. All helps, even small amounts. Thank for those who gave time, gas, and vehicle to help transport. Much appreciated!

UPDATE: thanks to an amazing response, these three wonderful kitties found permanent homes within just a few days, and are doing great!! These three sweet boys were dumped on a farm in Cedar County, and taken to the Humane Alliance to be treated, neutered and vaccinated for return. However, it has been found that they are very tame, loving and playful, and given their sad treatment it would be nice if they could be placed into loving homes instead of the unfamiliar cold outdoors. They are approximately 6 months old. If you or anyone you know would be interested in providing a home for any of these 3 so we don’t have to release them back outside, please contact us ASAP.
