Cedar County League for Animal Welfare Cedar County League for Animal Welfare (CCLAW) is a group of concerned citizens helping animals. CCLAW is it's own foster entity. We recognize the Cedar Co.

Cedar County League of Animal Welfare (CCLAW) is a state licensed foster to adopt non profit 501c3 group of former rescue/shelter board members, employees, volunteers, and donors in Cedar Co., Iowa, but have also personally rescued animals most of our lives. ALL donations are tax deductible. animal control issues are a county wide problem. Our goal is always no kill unless deemed no other options

due to health or other extreme issues. We are working together with people throughout Cedar Co to help foster to adopt, care for and spay/neuter cats, pets or feral throughout our county. We also work countywide to help find homes for cats and dogs; feral, stray, and surrender. All animals are placed in foster homes for care, recovery, taming, etc... until adopted. CCLAW also has a very positive relationship with many shelters and rescues throughout Iowa. This enables us to work together for the benefit of the animals. We recognize animal rescue is a team effort requiring good relationships and appreciation of one another.

ADOPT GRAHAM and SHERBERT!

Graham and Sherbert were dumped with their brother Fernando at 6 months old. Their foster mom says they are very sweet and loving kitties and doing well in her home. Each of their adoption fees have been reduced via sponsorship by TigerMart. They have been neutered and vaccinated. Please help these kitties find their permanent family!

Kitty food needed!

A few weeks ago we were contacted because the DNR found a mama cat and four kittens dumped by the Cedar River. They were clearly tame house cats and very very hungry and thirsty. We had someone step up to foster them but they have finished their bag of food (many thanks to the person who donated that one!!). This foster is doing a lot for them so I would love to have additional food provided so she does not have to pay for more than she is. If you are able to donate a bag of food or anything else for these guys, it would be greatly appreciated! Mama and a couple of the babies went in yesterday to be altered and will be up for adoption soon!!

ADOPT STAR!
A “People-friendly Working Cat”

Star is a farm cat who is great with people but needs to be placed alone or with cats who will not be intimidated by his dominant personality. He would make an excellent shop cat or barn cat with the right mix of cats. Star is neutered and being relocated from another placement.

House cats CANNOT survive outside most of the time! They are found starving if they are found at all. They don’t have the street-smarts, and cats who were brought up by humans due to being orphaned or separated from their mother too young lack necessary skills to survive.

Sadly, I've actually heard people say that cats will "figure it out" if they take them out into the country and abandon them. Or if they take them to a colony they know is being fed and let them go. I could fill volumes about what people don't know or don't understand about cats. 💔🤬

🐈💔🐈‍⬛💔🐈💔🐈‍⬛💔

Domestic cats don't have the survival skills that ferals do. They won't be okay! Don't leave them to die all alone on the streets!

Update on our medical stray cats…

Sir Wilton has turned out to be declawed. We are going to have him scanned for a chip.

Kiki turned out to have a chip! We were able to locate her owners who hadn’t seen her since May! Unfortunately she also has a spinal injury, so the amputation was put on hold and she is being monitored for the next day to evaluate the effects on her lower body functions, and a decision will then be made as to proceeding with amputation or humane euthanasia. We are grateful she was not left laying in the field another day in the rain, hungry and alone!

In addition to receiving a litter of 6 (!!!) starving baby kittens whose mother was hit by a car this week, and a starving male cat with a dental infection, we also received a friendly female cat who was found laying in a field with a severely broken leg, which needs to be removed. We were able to locate someone to do this for her tomorrow, but with the kitten’s appetites and the number of kitties we’ve taken in lately, we appreciate donations to make sure we have the funds to help the ones that are in pain and need vet care! The kitty with the broken leg is named Kiki, the kittens are with an experienced bottle feeder and thankfully doing well, and Sir Wilton is already feeling much better on antibiotics!

Donations can be sent via Paypal to: [email protected]
(Note if for specific animal or use)

Thank you as always for your support! If you are missing a kitty and think either of the adult cats could be yours, please let us know! Both are tame.

We are in need of adoptive homes ASAP for many kitties! Please apply or let us know if you are interested in any of them--we are happy to answer questions and most of them are in a foster home setting. If you are unable to adopt, please share with everyone you know, so we can get these kitties into homes! You can also sponsor your "favorite" to help reduce their adoption fee. We cannot help additional cats in need without adoptions for the ones currently in our care.

Petfinder links are provided for cats currently listed on Petfinder. More will be added soon!

We urgently need a shop or similar setting for this very nice male cat who does best with people and not other cats! He is altered. This is a courtesy post for the family who is rehoming him for the safety of their other cat.

(This should be obvious, but this kennel was used briefly to CONTAIN him while they set up the bigger cage with a litter box and everything else he needed; working on getting a new pic. However, without foster homes, some form of cage or kennel is the only option until one is found--just as would be the case in a typical shelter)
