Here is Akuma.
Again.

Unfortunately, she is STILL looking for her forever home and is patiently waiting in foster.

She's an intact female Belgian Malinois.

Here's some details about her;
- Age; 10 months

- Spayed; no

- Microchipped; yes

- Vaccinated; yes

- Dogs; dog selective. Currently lives with two other dogs - another Belgian Malinois and a standard poodle.
A well socialized, calm, respectful dog is ideal if you have a multidog household

- Cats; has been around cats, never left unsupervised with them as she does have high prey drive

- Kids; older, dog savvy children may be considered.

- Location; Leek, Staffordshire. Willing to travel.

Akuma came from an unfortunate situation.
She was from a litter of 14 puppies.
Kept exclusively outdoors in a mud filled yard and fed from a dustbin lid amongst her parents and siblings.
Covered in filth, wet and cold, she was luckily scooped up by a kind hearted woman alongside two of her sisters. Both sisters have homes of their own now, but Akuma is still waiting for hers.

She would absolutely thrive in a home full of adventure. Hiking or dog sports.
She is a very highly driven, smart, determined and incredibly high energy. As any Belgian would be.

A working home with breed experience would be ideal, but other settings may be considered.

She travels well.

Does not enjoy being pet/handled by strangers.

Very much a "one person dog"

If you have any questions, want to know more about her, or are interested in potentially adopting or even a foster trial, don't hesitate to reach out.

Well, id feel like I was doing a disservice if I only showed you the good side of dogs.
But, those wouldn't mean much without the bad and the ugly.

So - here it is.
The ugly.

While Monty is 85% flawless, he's still a dog.
He's still a whole other being, with his own mind, his own wants, his own personality. And that becomes loud and clear every now and again.

He's an adolescent. So tantrums are a real part of our training.
He doesn't want to do it, so he's going to kick and cry when he's not allowed.

In this instance - he is being removed from jumping all over my shoulders.
He WANTS to do it. Because he finds it fun. Is it acceptable? No.

It's not the fact I'm touching his collar. In fact, he's a-okay with that. But he doesn't like WHY I'm holding him away from me and I'm stopping him from doing what he wants.

This is "positive punishment"
I'm adding a stimulus he doesn't like, to decrease the likelihood of him attempting to repeat that behavior again.

Does that mean he's going to kick and mouth and roll in a paddy? Absolutely.
Is that okay? Yeah.
It's not personal. I let go when he stops trying to climb me like a tree, and when he stops throwing a fit about it.

Working with Harley the Lab this morning, just us.
Some light recall and distraction training, but our pain focus was loose leash walking.

He is a lab, so that means he's about 80% elevator music behind the eyes, but he is a pleasure to work with. Happy and eager to please.

😌❤️

It's that time of year again!

Please, for the love of dog, don't buy rawhide.
Not only are they pumped full of chemicals and a byproduct of the leather industry scraps, but that are also extremely difficult to digest.
These monstrosities may last a while and be a "doggy Christmas present" but, they also give the gift of expensive emergency vet visits and surgery.

There are so many raw, natural alternatives to rawhide on the market, and often cheaper too.
Please avoid these at all costs. 🫶🏻

Well, Monty definitely enjoyed his snow day.
And enjoyed it even more when he realized he could eat the snow 😂

"what bat s**t thing did my dog trainer do to my dog this week?"

This.

Zazu identifies as a small Pomeranian.
He is the cat-ferret-dog that is incredibly helpful when it comes to adding distractions and the temptations to interact with smaller animals.

Monty did great.
Zazu was unphased.

October is finally here!

A little cold, wet and mud never stops us from having fun 🥰

Beautiful brinsworth folks!
We were collared by a man in canklow woods this morning around 11:30-11:45 with concerns to his missing dog LUNA.

She is a black Staffordshire Bull Terrier with white paws, white chest and head stripe.
Warning a harness.
She apparently ran into the woods, and then simply disappeared. And wouldn't recall as she usually would.

If you are heading out to Canklow woods and spot her, please catch her and keep her safe if you're able to.
The man looked so heartbroken.

Thankyou 🫶🏻

⚠️URGENT APPEAL⚠️

Some of you will likely remember Piper from earlier last year.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances - she is looking for a new home again.

Piper is roughly 2 years old.
Black and tan German shepherd.
Still intact.
Up to date on vaccines.

She is a strong dog, and she is the biggest coward. She is fear reactive to strangers and dogs. But once she warms up (which isn't hard at all) she is the sweetest lady, eager to please, food, and toy motivated.

She must be placed in a child free home
And be an only dog.

Please message if you have any questions or are interested in taking Piper on.
You will receive our full support for her training for her entire lifetime. Free of charge.

Please share and help us get Piper back on her feet ❤️

Monty decided that today was finally the day he behaved like a distinguished, polite little gentleman 🥹

Loose leash walking has never really been his strong suit, because everything must be done at 200mph.

And adolescents is a trying time for all of us 🥲
So usually, he's quite a little s**t to put it nicely.
But today? Complete opposite.
His lil brain cogs finally got it and we're so proud of him.

You heard it folks.
A muzzled dog is an untrained dog, and a liability, and it makes you a s**t trainer 🫶🏻

So, thanks Harold.
But I can confirm that anyone with two cents, understands that muzzled dogs are not bad dogs.

Here are just SOME of the reasons dogs may wear a muzzle or be muzzle conditioned -

- Medical necessity - some dogs are already stressed as it is going to the vets, but what if your dog is now in extreme pain with a broken bone or open wound, and won't let anyone examine them, and now they have to be muzzled to get treatment?
They WILL forcefully muzzle your dog. So why not make it a little easier by making the muzzle something positive, and not add extra stress to an already stressed situation?

- Medical conditions such as PICA - PICA is a physiological and compulsive desire to eat non-food items. You can't just "train it out" and "teach them to stop"
Muzzling your dog can allow them to be safely off leash and NOT eat a stick, rocks, broken glass, or anything else you can find while out and about.
Much better to have them comfortable in a muzzle, than uncomfortable in a vets office fighting for their life because they have an obstruction or perforated bowel

- Coprophagia - the desire to eat f***l matter. Super common in developing puppies, and can stem from a huge variety of reasons.
Would you like your dog to catch a disease or parasites from eating contaminated p**p?

- Legal requirements -
Dogs who are already on the dangerous dogs list (previous bite histories) or are on the dangerous dogs exemption register (XL bullies) are required by law to wear a muzzle in public.
And an overwhelming amount of those dogs have never put a foot wrong, and do not have a history.
And while that legislation was uncalled for, and frustrating, it highlighted how critically important muzzle conditioning, training, and education was needed around muzzles.
These dogs did not deserve to have to scrape their faces across the pavement, your legs, walls and their own paws to try and get it off because it was so uncomfortable and they hated it. Because they had never been exposed to it.

- BECAUSE YOU CAN. AND BECAUSE IT LOOKS COOL.

Muzzled dogs are not bad dogs.

So thankyou Harold for motivating this post 🫶🏻 but its unlikely you will learn from it.

Unfortunately, people like this are blind to education, and ignorant to facts that they see pretty much every day.
People like this will try so hard to make you feel like s**t for doing the best for your dog, so, take it with a grain of salt.

Don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from.

Is your dog a bit of a puff?
Anxious, nervous, generally UN-confident? (Is that a word?)

Well, maybe start making your dog do some weird s**t.
Works a charm. Put your dog in a tree.
