Tips and guidelines for betta

Paano nga ba mag alaga ng Betta?
Para maiwasan ang nangyayare sa karamihan na bumili ng Betta dahil nabudol or gusto lang talaga mag alaga and ang end up nagkakasakit ang Betta. We should have research first on how to take care of them, kase po, buhay po sila and hindi sila pang display lang. They're smart, can be pet, can be trained, and really helps in your mental health.

✅ UNANG UNA SA LAHAT BAGO KA BUMILI AT MAG ALAGA NG BETTA. What you really need is aged or stock water for at least 3 days in a container or you can use a direct tap water and apply anti-chlorine. Why? Harmful po sa Betta ang chlorine and other chemicals na meron sa tap water that's why kelangan i-stock mo muna yung tubig or gamitan ng anti-chlorine. You can also add a pinch of rock salt, opo yung asin na ginagamit pang luto or Epsom Salt/Aquarium Salt. Wag lang iodized, this helps and serves as natural antibacterial sa tubig ng tank.

✅ Wag masyadong mataas ang tubig sa tank unless meron kang lid/takip, tumatalon po sila at magugulat ka nalang wala ka ng Betta(bili ka ulit samin, char). Having lids with airhole also helps to avoid dirt, dust or any thing na pwedeng mahulog/mapunta sa tank nila.

✅ What you need also is to prepare a Betta tank/Aquarium for their new home. Can do bare tank or aquascape , it's up to you. Standard size is 2.5 gallons pero karamihan ginagamit is yung Betta Tank na 6x4x8 dimension kase space saver. Promise, sasabihin mo isa lang pero next month sampu na sila 🤩

✅ GOLDEN RULE: ALWAYS ACCLIMATE. Eto yung process na pag bumili ka ng betta or inalis mo yung betta sa existing tank dahil kelangan linisin. Bago mo ilagay yung Betta sa new tank or bagong linis na tank is i-acclimate mo muna(ilagay yung plastic/plastic container kung nasaan ang Betta) sa tubig ng new tank or bagong linis na tank for at least 15mins-30mins. Kung bagong bili, ilagay yung plastic sa tank/aquarium or kung nilinis naman ang tank, any plastic container would do, kuha ka ng tubig sa existing tank nya at dun mo ilagay ang Betta then acclimate. This Acclimation period helps them to adopt the new water temperature to avoid water shock na pwedeng magcause ng stress(clamped fins) at magkasakit yung alaga nating Betta.

✅ Water Condition. Pinaka the best pang condition ng tubig ay ang tuyong dahon ng talisay, cattapa sa thailand, ketapang sa malay/india, or indian almond leaves sa english. Labas ka lang bes, marami jan sa street nyo nagkalat, pulutin mo na nakatulong ka pa maglinis! Make sure na tuyong tuyo, alisin ang gitnang stem sa dahon, linisin, at i-crampled bago ilagay sa tank or pwede mo pakuluan, salain maigi, at palamigin bago ilagay sa tank. Meron din nabibiling ketapang or talisay extract. Bakit kelangan ng talisay? Maraming benefits ang talisay, anti-bacterial, aid treatment for them, increase health, vigour, and natural color enhancer. Ginagamit din to sa iba pang tropical fish. Make sure na 24 hours lang po ibabad ang tuyong dahon ng talisay.

✅ Feeding: twice lang po ang pagpapakain sakanila(morning and evening/after 12 hours), pag pellets 2-3 pellets, pag live foods, tantya lang po kase ang intestine nila ay kasing laki lang ng mata nila kaya wag overfeed. Alam ko naawa ka kase akala mo nagugutom sila, pero iwasan po pakainin ng sobra. Dibale ng ikaw tumaba, wag lang ang Betta 😂✌️

✅ Flare: After pakainin ang Betta, lagyan/tapatan ng salamin for them to see their reflection or kung may katabi silang Betta, alisin mo yung harang. Why? This will serve them as exercise to flare their gills, extend their muscle and fins to maintain their form. Pag nakikita nila reflection nila or ibang Betta, flairing ang ginagawa nila. Flairing helps them to digest faster. Do this only for at least 5 mins to 15 mins every after feeding. Wag masyadong matagal dahil ma-stress sila.

✅ Cleaning. Every 3 days po kung bare tank or once a week basta make sure na hindi sobrang dumi yung tank nila. Can do 20%, 30%, 50%, or 100% water change, gamitan mo ng siphon or turkey baster pang higop ng dumi and kung gano kadami nabawas na tubig, ganun dn kadami yung tubig na idadagdag, make sure na galing sa stock water or dechlorinated water ang idadagdag at iwas din sa tubig poso na luma kc baka mataas ang iron content..salamat po enjoy Betta Keeping...
