This not so little Tapinauchenius cupreus (Copper Tree Spider) joined our family about a year and a half ago as a tiny 1/4” sling. Now the size of my hand, they’re about to go into their “adult” enclosure. 🕸
I love their little burrow and can’t get over those colors 😍

Did you know that UV light causes scorpions to “glow”? You can see it here with this Centruroides gracilis! 🦂

What causes this to happen: there’s a layer in the scorpion’s exoskeleton called the Hyaline Layer, in which the chemicals in that layer glow when hit with ultraviolet light. Scientists still aren’t quite sure what the purpose of the layer is, although there are a few theories including as a “sunscreen”. 🌞

This little fella was given to us last week, and we’ve been having a really fun time getting to know him.
Not sure on species, as he was brought in on a shipment of plants. Also not too sure on what he likes best for environment. Half the time he burrows, half the time he’s exploring. 🐸
