Congratulations to our newest graduate - Dakota! She is a 1 1/2+ year old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix who completed her Basic Obedience training package and is ready to begin her Therapy Dog Training & Certification when her owner is ready.

We are pleased to report that Dakota no longer pulls on leash on walks and can even be given more freedom with longer lead or off lead walks. She has fine-tuned her basic commands of sit, stay, come, down and place without needing treats to do so. Prior to training with us her "stay" and "place" commands were spotty, and she could not do them for long durations. This super smart girl has taken to her new "job" as follower in her pack and decreased her excitement levels when meeting new people. Her owner has learned how to better direct and control the energy of this blend of breeds. Dakota is ready to tackle her owner's goal of becoming a Certified Therapy Dog so she can go to work with her owner to provide joy to toddlers and children with special needs.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha alumni family, Dakota! We look forward to helping you with your Therapy Dog Training & Certification when your owner is ready. You will do great! We are proud of you!

Welcome to the Pack...our newest member - Lucky! He is a 1+ year old Toy Poodle who began his Leadership Essentials training package this past week. His owner reached out to us as she needed help transitioning him off potty pads to being potty trained to go outside, wanted him to be more confident and less timid and skittish, and wanted to make sure his training got started off on the right track. Lucky was rescued in July of 2024 by his owner and has come a long way in trusting her. She wanted to make sure she was being the best pack leader possible for him so that he could thrive in his new home.

Poodles come in three size varieties: Standards should be more than 15 inches tall at the shoulder; Miniatures are 15 inches or under; Toys stand no more than 10 inches. All three varieties have the same build and proportions. At dog shows, Poodles are usually seen in the elaborate Continental clip. Most pet owners prefer the simpler Sporting clip, in which the coat is shorn to follow the outline of the squarely built, smoothly muscled body. Forget any preconceived notions about Poodles you may have: Poodles are eager, athletic, and wickedly smart dogs of remarkable versatility. The Standard, with his greater size and strength, is the best all-around athlete of the family, but all Poodles can be trained with great success.

Toy Poodles are extremely intelligent and are easily trained. They are agile and graceful as well as smart, and they enjoy and excel in a variety of canine sports, including agility, obedience, and tracking. They are excellent water-retrievers and also compete in dock diving and retriever hunt tests.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Lucky! We look forward to helping your owner learn how to utilize your natural instincts and abilities so that you can thrive in your new home.

Welcome to the Pack...our newest member - Jerry! He is a 5-month-old Sheltie who began his Advanced Obedience training this past week. This tiny 5+ pound Sheltie has found his voice and is coming out of his shell after being rescued from the pet store. His owners reached out to us as they were having some potting training issues, excitement issues and pulling on leash on walks. He also has some timidness and is less confident around other dogs and people on walks.

The Shetland Sheepdog, affectionately known as the “Sheltie,” is a remarkable dog breed that captures the hearts of dog enthusiasts worldwide. Renowned for their intelligence, loyalty, and elegance, Shelties possess a unique combination of traits that make them excellent canine companions.

One of the defining characteristics of Shelties is their high level of intelligence. They are quick learners and possess an innate desire to please their parents. Whether it’s learning new tricks or mastering obedience commands, Shelties excel in various training endeavors. Their sharp minds make them highly adaptable and capable of handling advanced tasks. They’re also ideal candidates for dog sports and competitions.

According to Dr. Stanley Coren, an animal intelligence expert, Shelties ranked sixth of 132 dog breeds in intelligence. Shelties understand a new command after being told it fewer than five times, and they obey commands the first time given at least 95 percent of the time.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Jerry! We look forward to helping your owners learn how to use your natural instincts and abilities to really thrive in your new home and family pack.

Welcome to the Pack...our newest member - Harlow! She is a nearly 1 year old Medium Australian Mountain Doodle who began her Advanced Obedience High Distraction training this past week. Her owner reached out to us as she was interested in possibly having Harlow trained as a Therapy Dog. She was having some excitement issues when people would come over, anxiety in the crate and general obedience issues that needed to be fine-tuned.

Australian Mountain Doodles (AMD) are a cross between an Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mountain Dog, and a poodle. Oftentimes AMD’s are the offspring of an Aussiedoodle and Bernedoodle mix, making them a ‘double doodle’. These are medium to large-sized dogs with either wavy or curly coats. It’s about 1 to 2 inches long and can be a variety of colors - chocolate and black tricolor and chocolate and Blue Merle tricolor. They are hypoallergenic and perfect for families with allergies. The average weight and height for a male range from 60 to 95 pounds and 21 to 28 inches. Females weigh between 40 to 80 pounds and are 14 to 17 inches tall.

These dogs are friendly, loving, and very loyal. They’re one of the easiest breeds to train because of their intelligence and playful nature. Their personalities vary depending on how much training they receive, environment, and parents’ temperament. AMD's are amiable dogs, so they do well with children, other dogs, and most pets and farm animals.

AMD's are easy to train. They are eager to please their owners and respond well to positive reinforcement training, so they will enjoy learning new tricks and playing all the time. These dogs have high intelligence and respond well to rewards, consistency, and, above all, patience.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Harlow! We look forward to helping your owner become the pack leader you will need to really thrive and potentially share your love of people and eagerness to please with others in a new role as a certified Therapy Dog.

Welcome to the Pack...our newest member - Skippy! He is an 11-month-old Basenji who began his Advanced Obedience training this past week. His owners reached out to us as they were having issues with potty training, crate training, and general obedience issues.

The Basenji is an ancient hunting dog originally from Central Africa and categorized as both a sighthound and a scent hound. They stand between 16 and 24 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh between 22 and 24 pounds. Their coat is short and smooth and is typically red, black, brindle, or fawn. Basenjis have a long, narrow head with a pointed muzzle and erect ears. They have a deep chest and a short, muscular body. Basenjis are known for making unique barkless vocalizations. They yodel, which is a high-pitched, somewhat musical sound. They also bark but are much quieter than other dogs.

This is a high-energy dog that requires a lot of exercise. They need at least 30 minutes of exercise per day, preferably more. Basenjis are also very intelligent dogs that need mental stimulation. Because of their active mind, they are often good at agility and obedience training. While highly intelligent, their independence can lead to stubborn streaks. This breed requires an experienced pet owner, patience, and consistent training.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Skippy! We look forward to helping your owners and young active family become the leaders you will need to really thrive in your new home.

As a Veteran founded business, Always Faithful Dog Training salutes our Veterans and founder, Abraham Mashal. Abraham served honorably on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1999-2003. During his service, Abraham became a certified K-9 handler, taught marksmanship at the rifle range and operated a Repairable Issue Point. Abraham is also a service-connected disabled veteran.

The history of Veterans Day is rooted in the end of World War I when an armistice, or cease-fire, was declared on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. This event marked the end of hostilities in the war, and November 11th became a day to remember and honor veterans.

Veterans Day was officially designated as a holiday to honor all veterans in 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. It has since been a day of reflection and appreciation for the military service of veterans from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. This day recognizes the bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism of veterans and serves as an opportunity for the nation to express gratitude for their service and dedication.

Welcome to the Pack...our newest members - Cashmere & Denver! Cashmere is an 8 1/2-year-old female Boxer rescue mix and Denver is a 4 1/2-year-old female Border Collie/Pitbull rescue mix who began their Advanced Obedience training this past week. Their owners reached out to us as they were having some increased fighting amongst the dogs, excitement issues with guests coming into the home, and wanted to improve their obedience with greater distractions.

The Bullboxer Pit is a mixed breed dog — a cross between the Boxer and American Pit Bull Terrier dog breeds. Powerful, faithful, and energetic, these pups inherited some of the best traits from both of their parents. Bullboxer Pits have often been used as farm or guard dogs, due mostly to their loyal nature and powerful strength.
These dogs are often referred to as “nanny dogs” due to their protective nature towards children. The Bullboxer Pit’s coat has been seen in almost every color imaginable! The most regularly seen coat colors are brown, tan, yellow, and black.

The Border Collie Pitbull mix combines the American Pitbull Terrier and the Border Collie, which makes it a very energetic pup, that’s likely to get into quite a bit of trouble if they are not properly exercised. The Border Collie Pitbull mix is often referred to as the Borderbull or the Border Pit. The Borderbull is going to be very independent and can be challenging to train. Borderbulls have energy for days. You will want to carve out at least one full hour per day so that you can walk your dog. We recommend taking them to the park or taking part in other outdoor activities. If you cannot do that, you should have a larger yard.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Cashmere and Denver! We look forward to helping your owners become the calm, confident pack leaders you will need to find your place in the pack and have peace and harmony in the home once again.

Congratulations to our newest graduate - Meadow! She is a nearly 3 1/2-year-old Golden Retriever who finished up her Advanced Obedience dog training this past week. Her owners reached out to us as they were interested in having her be a Therapy Dog at the school where her human siblings attend.

We are pleased to report that she no longer pulls on leash on walks, has reduced her excitement issues when company comes to the home, and fine-tuned her obedience skills. She has learned to be calmer despite her three human siblings' energy in the home. She is still working to perfect her skills in higher distraction environments but is well on her way to being ready to start Therapy Dog training when her owners are ready. Consistency with her training and exercise will be crucial to keeping her energy spikes at bay and remaining the calm, confident pack member her family desires.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha alumni family, Meadow! We are proud of you all and look forward to beginning your Therapy Dog Training & Certification when you are ready.

Congratulations to our newest graduate - August (aka Auggie)! He is a 9+ month old Aussiedoodle who completed his Advanced Obedience High Distraction training this past week. His owner reached out to us to inquire about Therapy Dog training as a long-term goal for Auggie.

We are pleased to report that he is well on his way to achieving that goal! He quickly moved through the basic command work inside the home and progressed to demonstrating his obedience in higher distraction environments. He is a calm, more engaged follower on walks and no longer pulls on leash. He has learned to be calmer in a very busy, young family environment.

He excelled on his field trips to Ace Hardware and Cabela's demonstrating application of the skills he has learned and being able to walk calmly and maneuver through larger crowds of people with ease and a greater calmness. He demonstrated being able to lay down and chill at a very busy entrance area at Cabela's and could ignore people passing by in close proximity while his owner was at a distance. He is perfecting being able to calmly greet people when invited to.

For being nearly 10 months old, he has done great and will be ready to start his Therapy Dog training after the busy holiday season. He is already a favorite with those he comes in contact with and will do well in his new role as Therapy Dog for his mom's school district once certified. We are proud of you Auggie and look forward to continuing your training in the months to come! Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha alumni family, Auggie!

Welcome to the Pack...our newest member - Sadie! She is a 2-year-old Morkie who began her Advanced Obedience training this past week. Her owners reached out to us as they were needing help potty training, walking her on leash without pulling and zigzagging, coming when called, and being calmer around guests that come to the home.

Tiny and adorable, the Morkie is an affectionate crossbreed who loves people and will get along with all of your other pets. By combining two popular breeds, the Yorkshire Terrier and the Maltese, breeders managed to create a beautiful dog with a loving personality. These little dogs can cause big problems if you aren’t careful. Morkies are also playful and will run to chase a ball for quite some time or find fun in interactive dog toys. The Morkie attaches to his family quickly and tend to form strong bonds with their pawrents. While heartwarming and cute, his love for the family can create a problem when he needs to be left alone. These pups will become so attached to their families that they won’t be able to handle time on their own, so training them early and often in a must.

As an adaptable and easy going pooch, a Morkie can be happy with a big yard in the suburbs or in a minuscule city apartment. A few, short walks each day will keep this Yorkie and Maltese cross content and well-exercised. The Morkie was bred to create a small-sized dog, with low-shedding coat, and adorable teddy bear looks. One look is all it takes to see that the undertaking was more than successful, as the cuteness of these pooches will melt you in a puddle in no time.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Sadie! We look forward to helping your owners become the pack leader you will need to really thrive.

Becoming a pack leader isn’t about barking out orders or acting like the boss. It’s more like being the cool parent—firm but fun, and your dog knows you’ve got their back! You’re not trying to dominate them; you’re simply tuning into what they need — whether it’s a good walk, some mental stimulation, or a solid belly rub. When your dog sees you consistently meeting those needs, they naturally start to follow your lead. It’s like being their personal life coach, but with more slobber. The more you connect with your dog’s mind and body, the stronger the bond becomes, and soon they’ll be looking to you for guidance in every situation.

Ready to step up as the leader your pup deserves? Let’s make it happen!

Welcome to the Pack...our newest members - Moka & Mater! Moka is a 7-year-old and Mater is a 6-year-old Chocolate Labrador Retrievers who began their Advanced Obedience training this past week. Their owners reached out to us as they were having increasing excitement and jumping issues when guests would come over, problems with increased pulling on leash on walks, and wanted to fine tune their obedience under greater distractions.

The Labrador Retriever was the most popular pedigree dog breed in USA and other parts of the world for decades. Labradors are bred to be steadfast, unflappable and kind. Traditional working Labs are tough, athletic dogs capable of great endurance and persistence. Labrador Retrievers genuinely can make the perfect pet, show, working, therapy, service and hunting dog. The Labrador Retriever breed have a medium sized physique, a short coat that sheds, floppy ears and soulful eyes. They are a gentle, clever, high energy, breed that needs attention, training and love.

Your Labrador Retriever will need lots of exercise and plenty of training. Regular brushing will help you with shedding, but expect some fur around your home. Training and socialization will help you to avoid jumping up, pulling on the leash, chewing and separation anxiety too. Your dog is unlikely to be a guard dog, but they might bark watchdog style when the doorbell rings. The Labrador Retriever’s coat officially comes in three solid colors. Black coats are the most common, with chocolate and yellow Labs being a little less frequent.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Moka & Mater! We look forward to helping your owners become the pack leaders you need to transform into the calm, confident, obedient pack members they desire.

Welcome to the Pack...our newest member - Hank! He is a nearly 11-month-old Weimaraner who began his Advanced Obedience training this past week. His owners reached out to us as they were having excitement issues, problems walking him on leash, issues with kennel training, and eventually wanted to be able to have him off leash and respond better to commands.

The Weimaraner is a beautiful and athletic dog breed from Germany with a steel gray coat. They're known for their oversized floppy ears and soulful eyes, usually in a shade of blue, that resemble the features of a bloodhound. Originally bred to be a sportsman's companion for hunting deer, bears, and wolves, the Weimaraner—sometimes known as Weim or the "gray ghost"—is a versatile dog breed that is happy on the hunt but loves to be a big part of your home and family life.

They’re incredibly intelligent and know how to use their brainpower to get what they want. Weimaraners have been known to open doors, unlatch gates, turn faucets on, and more. Owners must be prepared to stay one step ahead of this smart dog breed and provide opportunities for both physical and mental exertion. It’s often been said that a tired dog is a good dog, and this is particularly true for the Weimaraner!

This is a high-energy breed. Most owners will find that a solid hour or more of daily exercise is necessary for their Weimaraner. Exercise will allow them to release their physical energy and will also help prevent boredom and the destructive behaviors, like chewing and digging, that can occur as a result.

Welcome to the Always Faithful Dog Training of Omaha family, Hank! We look forward to helping your owners learn how to be the pack leaders you will need to utilize your natural talents and instincts in a positive way.
