Meet the other half of the Wild Intentions family! Jamie has loved Bend for years and been looking forward to starting a dog training company in Central Oregon so was beyond happy when Chelsea agreed to make the move. They currently reside with their six dogs, pictured here from left to right, and pictures 1-3: Zurich, Trouvez, Jaiden, Milo, Otis, Bravery, Reyka & Coco.

Meet one half of the Wild Intentions family! Jenna and her husband Collin have wanted to make the move to Bend for years, and are so glad to have made the move. They have two dogs, an old man chihuahua named Jeeves, and a 3 year old Chinook named Ryla (also pictured is Kaelyn, who they lost last year). Today is also a good day to introduce Collin, who is a veteran who just returned from his second deployment. Thank you to all that have served. 🇺🇸

Meet Cash! We have been working on his leash skills as he is temporarily living in Bend and in his excitement about how dog friendly it all is, he has been pulling a lot on leash. With the addition of a wonder walker harness and some new rules to follow on leash, he’s been getting better and better. Leash skills are a great goal for our owner absent private trainings- we come to you and work with your dog one on one. Then show you how at the end- this way we know what works for your dog and have laid the foundation. It’s a great resource!

One of the best parts of adventure boarding are the off leash adventures, which happen almost every day of the week! While you are away, your dog gets to adventure as well. We still have a few openings left over the holidays that are quickly approaching!

How often do you practice your training cues with your dog before you actually really need it- and often telling your dog what to do when it’s really hard for them? You can improve their muscle memory with their cues by practicing them regularly in a variety of locations. Manny initially struggled with focus when we arrived at Hobby Lobby but after a bit was able to successfully execute leave it, watch, stay and loose leash walking around distractions. Even better? He was much more responsive on our walk that evening because of it!

One of our favorite places to take our dogs and the dogs staying with us is Tumalo Reservoir. There’s miles of trails, and typically enough space where you can limit too much interaction with other people and dogs, if you’d like. Beware, there are sometimes people riding horses out there, so keep an eye out. And for just a couple months out of the year the reservoir is full and the dogs can splash and swim. It’s a beautiful hike- who has tried it??

Are you looking for a new dog to join you on your adventures?
Meet Zola! This pint sized lab mix is one year old and came up from Mexico. She loves meeting new people and kids, and has done well with dogs of all sizes. As most adolescents can be, she can get herself fired up in play, so if there’s another dog in the home, she will need a patient while she continues to learn the ropes. In her foster home she lived with a variety of dogs, she has gone for lots of walks, runs, hikes and off leash adventures and done well on all of them. She is a great outdoor companion! She is crated trained and mostly potty trained if you are structured with her bathroom breaks.
Zola will need someone with the ability to allow the first month or so with them to be quieter and consistent. She has a quirk that causes her to spin in circles when she is stressed, excited or just overstimulated. Some days it's more than others, but she is currently on meds in an attempt to help, but keeping the stress and excitement level down have seem to be the most effective in managing this behavior.

On the verge of really escalated and inappropriate play? Also yes 😳
So what should you do when you see play starting to get a little too wild? Swipe left to see them about 10 seconds later.
When play is getting more vocal, too rough, or when one dog is taking the lead in pushing play and it’s not reciprocated, calling the dogs to you and having them refocus is a good place to start. Have them sit with you and ask them to do some basic cues they know while you wait for their frantic energy to calm. Once you see them return to a more normal state, they can return to play again.

Teaching your dogs to settle can be so helpful for when you have guests stop by, you’re cooking dinner, or you just need a little space. Meet Kevin! He is an adorable young corgi puppy, doing a board and train with us this week to work on all of the puppy basics and socialization. Like a lot of young puppies he is trying out jumping up to get what he wants. We have been working on teaching him that if there’s something he wants, sitting is a great way to get it instead. Here he shows us that he can sit for attention, before we throw a toy, set down his food dish or exit a doorway.
