This is Bobby! Such a cutie wearing his bow tie. I used acrylic to give a strong vibrant representation of him. It’s sometimes difficult with black dogs I find as photos may show the coat with more brown hues or grey. Good then to have a few photos to work from!

Benji... this portrait of an adorable King Charles Spaniel hangs proudly in The Paddock, Derby House... the original commission was in watercolour which is more traditional I look..This acrylic version is vibrant, bold and quite a funky....not sure Benji looks too bothered though 🥴

Looking soooo adorable! A scrummy commission of the velvety coated Teddy. A simple representation in acrylic, plain background this time but less is more I think here. Beautifully framed and complements the room he is now hung in. I can always introduce tones of the room colours into the painting!

Looking quite grand in this spectacularly large frame is my best companion ... from there he can survey the new house and look over your shoulder whilst sitting at the dining table! .... which I’ve yet to buy.... yikes... nearly Christmas lunch!!

Meet little Freddie. He welcomed me the other day when I delivered his portrait to his owners. Such a cutie! I used one photo for the pose but it was overexposed so I referred to other photos to achieve the correct colouring. Sometimes you just cant get the perfect photo of your pooch no matter how hard you try and believe me sometimes you can be clicking away for days!!

Now I can't remember if this is Rosie or Robbie..... another older watercolour commission. Here the client wanted background foliage included. The photo was taken at night just as the outside lighting came on which gave a beautifully atmospheric setting.

Just looking at horsey commissions...This is a watercolour I did some years ago. My friend Angus Matheson took the photos which were just so amazing in their own right but gave me the perfect reference point to work from. Great light and clarity, looking straight at the viewer. I believe Dena looks simply gorgeous!

The painting of this little coiled spring of playfulness apparently brought huge smiles on the recipient's face. Little Lenny painted using watercolour....a more traditional look than if painted in acrylic. Subtle but striking!

This is the beautiful Mia. Sarah her owner wanted the painting to reflect Mia's fun and vibrant personality. What a wonderful photo she gave me to work from.... so cheeky poking through the fence. You can't help but smile! A great photo makes my job easy!! x
