Papaya is safe for dogs to eat. In fact, it’s even a healthy treat for dogs when fed in moderation.

There are several nutritional benefits of papaya that apply to dogs as well as humans. Like many other fruits, papaya is rich in vitamins A and C, as well as potassium and fiber. These nutrients can help support your dog’s immune system and promote healthy digestion. Papaya also contains an enzyme called papain that’s known for anti-inflammatory properties, which could be beneficial for dogs with joint pain or arthritis.

But don’t go adding a heaping helping of papaya to your dog’s dish right away. Like most other “human foods,” papaya is only safe for dogs to eat in small amounts. Too much will make him sick, as the high fiber content can cause digestive issues. You’ll also want to make sure the papaya is ripe and given without the seeds and skin. -PetMD

Our first Dog Days of Summer event is this Saturday, August 3 at Crump Park. We're pawsitively excited to welcome 20+ vendors. 🐾

Activities will include a small agility course provided by Zoom Room Dog Training, wading pools for pet splashing, and a canine craft for kids. 🐕

Fetch some tasty bites from Salty Paws RVA, Shakedown Eats Food Truck, and Unicorn Sweet Treats. 🐶

Following the event, we will have a Movie in the Park starting around 8:30pm. We can't specifically name the title of the film, but we can give you a hint...

It's about a pet who gets a new sibling that he doesn't particularly like. We'll get an inside look at what their secret life looks like while their owners are away. It'll leave you wondering- is this what they do all day? 🐩🤔 Any guesses?! 👇🏽
