Our Beginner's Agility Class at The Pawms in Tuscaloosa is wrapping up week 2! Nothing's better than watching everyone grow from week to week already. We're excited to see all the fun and growth in the upcoming weeks!
Here's a look into a day of training in our 2 week board and train program at The Pawms in Tuscaloosa. We know just how hard it is to leave your precious pups for 2 weeks. To keep you at ease, we have training updates and videos like the one shown here! They not only teach you the skills your dog is learning that day, but it also gives you an opportunity to see your dog's training progress.

It's that time of year again!
Beginner Agility 6 Week Classes are back! Our first round of classes will start Wednesday September 25th at 5:30pm and will take place at The Pawms Pet Resort in Tuscaloosa.
This is a beginner agility class for dogs and owners who are interested in starting to learn agility. Dogs who know basic obedience commands are preferred but not required. Ideally, dogs should be able to pay attention to their owners around other dogs to get the most out of this class.
Dogs must be at least 1 year of age to participate and be UTD on vaccines. Flat collars, martingales, or harnesses with a 6ft leash (No Flexi's)
Dogs will start to learn the following obstacles: Jumps, tunnels, weaves

Not every dog will learn the same way as others! Sometimes you have to use different methods of training for them to understand what you are asking them to do. During our tutoring sessions, we go through different training approaches until we find what works best for that specific dog!
Poppy started learning how to lay down, but luring her into a down position wasn't quite clicking for her, so we moved onto a different method of teaching her! After some time and patience, Poppy was doing a GREAT job at understanding what we were asking her to do. With a little more practice, she'll be a master in no time!

One of the big benefits of our board and train program is getting to go home with a personalized training plan to continue your dog's education with you! The plan is personalized to the dog and is adjusted depending on how they progressed in their training during their board and train stay. Interested in learning more about our programs? Here's one of our favorite weeks again! Puppy Kindergarten has a learning theme for each week, and one of our all-time favorites is Confidence Building. Not only do all the puppies have fun, but so do the puppy parents! Next Puppy Kindergarten class starts Monday August 5th at 6:30pm
What better than watching a puppy learn all his foundational skills?! Kash has been working hard during his board and train stay with us and we can already see the progress in his focus and motivation to stay engaged. We still have a lot to learn, and we're excited to be a part of his learning journey!

Another skill that we focus on in our 2 week Basic Obedience Board and Train program at the Pawms in Tuscaloosa is a "Place" command and how to "Settle". These skills are great for dogs to learn and can be used not only at home, but also out in public!These skills are the first steps to having a polite canine companion who can watch and observe your house guests from their beds or settle under your chair at a coffee shop. Does your pup need a brush up on their "Stay" skills? Take a look at our Academy Day Calendar and sign your pup up for our "Stays" Day! All of our individual and group activities are planned out a month in advance so you can make sure your pup is attending all their favorite days! Slots are limited to 10 dogs/day so sign them up ahead of time to assure their spot is reserved.
