Today we visited with our two gal pals at Spring Hill Elementary. One of the girls requested that Freddy be a hot dog for Halloween, so we couldn’t say no to that. He was super snuggly with them today and it makes my heart so happy. ☺️

Also one of the girls said Freddy smelled exactly like the cafeteria at Disney World and she’s not wrong.

ANNOUNCEMENT! There’s a new sport in the : dogs with fuzzy feet floof running on slippery floors, also known as Floof Sprinting™️ The judges gave Freddy 8/10 for this particular run but we’re asking for a recount.

Today Freddy celebrated by visiting a local elementary school! We’ll be visiting this particular school twice a month to help out with their dyslexia program. ❤️

You’re invited to Freddy’s Got Well Eventually Party! 🥳 In a few weeks we’ll be one year post-op from major spinal surgery and kicking IVDD’s butt. 🏋🏻‍♂️ We’ve taken the year to let him heal, which his body desperately needed. He hasn’t been able to play off-leash with his pals since last August, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate.

Party is Sunday, September 15th from 1:00-3:00 at Work & Woof: Coworking, Indoor Dog Park, Daycare. Champagne toast (for people) at 2:00! Sunday best for pups is encouraged but not required. It is a celebration, after all!

Huge throwback photo! It was taken in January 2014, we’d only had Freddy a few weeks. I’d bought him his first sweater (a very ugly, ill-fitting one from Walmart 🤦🏻‍♀️😂) and thought he looked so precious in it (which he does!). Since he’s a shelter pup we don’t really know Freddy’s age. He had all his adult teeth but clearly hadn’t grown into his body yet. Puberty definitely helped him a lot 😂 Such a little ragamuffin. 💙 @ Austin, Texas

Rise and shine! 🌞 Don’t forget about Freddy’s pajama birthday party on December 9th at Flying Man Brewing Co. from 2-5! Goat milk and cookies happy hour for the pups at 4:00. 😝 Pajamas optional but I’d love to see pups in their jimmy-jams! People pajamas also welcome 🤪 And thanks to Flying Man for donating a portion of their sales to help us with the remainder of Freddy’s vet bills from his IVDD surgery. ❤️

Today Freddy walked to the mailbox (plus a block!) in preparation for his thanksgiving feast tomorrow (he’s having about half of a sweet potato ☺️). He’s gained almost two pounds since going on crate rest, which is to be expected since he couldn’t exercise. But now that he’s getting better we gotta work on getting those two pounds off! After thanksgiving, that is. 😆

Today is . Kindness is something I think of often. Daily, really. Every day I make an effort to go out of my way to do something kind for someone. Some days it’s doing a therapy dog visit with Freddy, some days it’s as simple as letting sometime into my lane during rush hour traffic. I have many favorite quotes about kindness, but this one is one us probably my favorite. (If you haven’t read the book WONDER by R.J. Palacio I suggest you add it to your reading list pronto.) Being kind isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. 💞

Freddy was diagnosed with IVDD in July. After meds and crate rest he was cleared to live his life normally and seemed to be more or less at 100%. Yesterday morning he yelped so we took him to the vet, they didn’t really find much new so we got pain meds and went home. This morning we woke up and he could barely stand on his own. One trip to the ER and an MRI later and we find out he has a herniated disc in his neck, separate from his IVDD issue in July. Our bill today was nearly $4,000 and if he needs surgery (which we’re thinking he probably will) that’s another... who knows how much. Probably $4K-$5K. Some of our sweet dog mom friends set up a go fund me account for him. We’re forever grateful. 💜

Our friend Freddy Pickles was diagnosed with IVDD this July and came off crate/bed rest in August. He seemed to be making improvements but lost feeling in his legs this morning and ended up at Heart of Texas Veterinary Center this morning and will have to get an MRI and a spinal tap. Freddy has been such an instrumental part of my happiness, well being, and mental health. I can’t put into words how much, so I’m not going to even try. Happy to all the sweet pups out there. I know I speak for all of us when I say our lives wouldn’t be the same without you in it.
