Debbie and Sasha are now on their way but it was touch and go as to whether it would be possible!!

It seems that defra changed the rules with just one day's notice and all Romanian dogs are now required to have their brucellosis blood test sent to the UK lab within 30 days before travel.

Thankfully Debbie and Sasha's paperwork had already been submitted by the transport company and had been approved....phew

This new development is going to make things harder but we are determined to continue helping these dogs because the alternative is just unthinkable 😪!!

We are absolutely in favour of pre-import testing but our concerns lie with the validity of one the tests as an indicator of true infection, the timescale being imposed upon us, the extra costs and the fact that some Vet practices will still insist upon retesting 🤷‍♀️.

We are not likely to be able to bring any dogs for a short time whilst the logistics of this are worked out 😡😡.

Ronnie Update:

Ronnie was said to be a bit bigger than we were led to believe, but actually he is a lovely size...not teeny tiny but still on the smaller side.

He has settled really well and he is a very friendly happy chap who seems to like people, which is quite amazing given the cruelty he experienced in Romania.

Ronnie is currently a little lacking in the manners department and he has clearly never experienced the luxury of being taken for walks 😬.
He veered, weaved, reared and pulled making me look like a complete idiot, but thankfully he is getting the hang of it now!! Also thankfully many of the locals do know what I do so they are not surprised by me looking an idiot 😂.

Ronnie goes to work with me and he is a good boy in the car and in the office with all the other dogs.

He is an all round nice dog with a great personality.

Although he has much to learn, he is eager to please and this is half the battle 🙂🙂

So the Chorleywood walk did go ahead yesterday as usual but half of the dogs were wearing long lines which made the photography and videography really quite hazardous as I was leaping around and trying not to be tripped up … good to have an excuse at least 😂😂! It was Ronnies and little Sorins inaugurative visit, both of them having now thankfully proved to be good travellers in our cars.

We won’t be walking next week at we’re both expecting new dogs, probably to be delivered on Monday, so we’ll be under the usual ‘house arrest’ for their first 48 hours as per the regular DEFRA restrictions.

SORIN PUPDATE!!!!

I have to be honest and say that little Sorin was a shock to all of us initially as we are an older household and while there’s still plenty of life in us … we weren’t in any way prepared for the high energy and constant zoomies … entertaining though they may have been!

And now here we are one week later and a level of calmness has been restored! It seems that the thrill and excitement of FREEDOM has largely abated and we can actually enjoy him now! He’s very cute and a cheeky little monkey with a penchant for ‘borrowing’ things and placing them wherever he feels they’re better suited. Dog towels, dog flannels, slippers,
trainers, crocs … all relocated but thankfully not damaged in any way! He’s also gently and carefully removed the bedding from his crate and taken it down the garden and left it there to be aired 😂😂😂😂!!

I’ve started taking him out of the safe confines of the house and garden now .. but for now that’s apparently pretty scary, although improving with every little trip out. Clearly there is a pattern 🤣🤣.

Basically he’s a very good little boy who’s always been ‘clean’ indoors, quiet in his crate at night … and totally non destructive anywhere anytime and good with all the other dogs too of course. My best guess at his weight would be circa 5kgs .. but it is an estimate only.

Also his ‘tongue thing’ is very cute!

Sorin and Ronnie have arrived 🥳🥳

Ronnie arrived in the afternoon and was immediately wagging his somewhat stumpy little tail. After exploring the garden and meeting the other dogs, he crashed out totally exhausted 😴

Super cute Sorin didn't arrive until after dark and he was such a scared boy 😥 but a warm bed and a good night's sleep worked wonders.

Today both dogs have settled really well and melded into proper pack members. Day one is all about observation and much time was spent in our respective rather chilly gardens doing just that!

Ronnie is a smashing chap with a great personality and Sorin is a super happy little chap who loves to explore...and just look at that little tongue which is is just totally adorable 🥰🥰.

There will certainly be 2 very happy adopters who are lucky enough to adopt these 2 boys!

UPDATE 20th September:

So two of the kittens are reserved.
Mum and the others are being collected by the Cats Protection today. Apologies to anyone who was genuinely interested but after initially saying they could not help, Cats Protection have now stepped in so any applications will now have to go through them.

Cute Kitten alert!!

This mother cat and 5 kittens were dumped at the surgery in Wembley where I work and sadly the local charities cannot help!

The kittens are currently only about 6 weeks old so will be ready to find new homes in a couple of weeks. Mum will need to be spayed.

Just putting on here in case any of our followers know of anyone who is looking for a kitten...or 2!

Mum will need to find a home too 🙏🙏

More exciting news. Debbie and Sasha will be arriving 2 weeks after Sorin and Ronnie 👏👏

Debbie will be going to Anita and Sasha to Jacky.

The pictures make Debbie look quite big but we have been told she is only 10kg! This beauty is about 3 years old and was found as a puppy when her and 2 siblings were dumped in a box outside the shelter on a freezing Winter night 😪. Thankfully they were found by the rescuer.

Sasha was found in a field about 4 years ago with her puppy. They were both so scared that it took many hours for the rescuer to catch them. She is now about 5 and said to be a little shy but very sweet natured and gentle.

They have both lived in the shelter since they were rescued and both really deserve a cosy forever home of their own.

We normally only take one dog at a time each, but the preparation takes longer now, so we decided to take 2 as we really want to help as many as we can. Every dog we take makes a space for the rescuers to save another 🙏🙏.

A little video from yesterdays walk at Chorleywood. I only had two of mine. Jacky brought her three … and Riley. Riley was one of my North African foster dogs (as was her Rani) and he was adopted by her brother. He often joins us on our walks while Gary is at work. So many of those present are lovely older dogs. I find the oldies really quite special ❤️

Meet Sorin and Ronnie who will be arriving at the end of the month. Sorin will be going to Anita and Ronnie to Jacky 👏👏

It has seemed like a long wait, but we never dare to announce new dogs until they have undergone all of their checks and tests.

Sorin, thought to be about 3 years old, was dumped outside a kill shelter starved and close to death and Ronnie, thought to be about 7 years old, was being pelted with stones by people because he was hungry and begging for food at a cafe 😥😥.

Whilst it is nice to spend a bit of time with our own dogs, we cannot wait to get back to what we love doing.....fostering and finding forever homes for dogs like Sorin and Ronnie who so deserve a happy ending 🥰🥰.

So after 16 months as a foster dog, Jack has officially joined Rani and Weston as one of my canine family!

Most people in dog rescue will end up adopting a dog not because they have chosen it, but because the dog needs them and this is the case with Jack.

He trusts me completely and he loves Anita, but the rest of the human population is viewed somewhere between deep mistrust and sheer terror 😨. Sadly this makes him unhomable 😪.

Jack may lack bravery, brains and beauty and he is a bit of a clumsy oaf 🤦‍♀️, but he can be quite the comedian and has a kind heart and a gentle soul 🤗.

I am not sure what I would do if he ever needed Veterinary attention as he is untouchable by anyone other than myself and Anita, but I cannot worry about what if and maybe.

All that matters is that Jack came to the UK with the promise of a better life and we intend to fulfil that promise 😊.

Here he is on his walk today and I think you will agree that he is very happy chap 🥰🥰.
