BIG WELCOME TO VERA AND JAX!!

Vera is a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon and Jax is a rescue all the way from Alabama!

Both pups are here for our Obedience Board and Train Program. While they are with us they will be working on basic commands:

Big congratulations to Lucy who just wrapped up her 4 week board and training program with us!

Lucy is as good as gold but sometimes suffered from occasional selective hearing when it was time to come in from the back yard, when running to go check out a nearby pond or puddle, or when interested in introducing herself to local deer. We are proud to announce that Lucy is now an absolute champ at coming when she is called every time, walking like a dream on leash and going to and staying on her "place" even in the presence of alluring distractions.

Lucy was a pleasure to have in class and will be missed but I'm sure her family is thrilled to have her back especially with all of her new skills!

Babka is as sweet as the bread she is named after!

Babka is joining us for our three week board and train program, after she completed her premiere puppy program at Cavapoos of WNY/Cavapoo Kennels
During her program with us she will learn all of her foundation behaviors.

A disease that has symptoms similar to Kennel Cough is spreading around. Please be sure your dog is up to date on all vaccines and consider talking to your vet about vaccinating for other respiratory diseases.

If you have an upcoming appointment with us or an upcoming drop off date, please note if your dog is having any of these symptoms.

Happy Halloween!

This year be safe and keep your dogs safe!

Practice leave it and drop it!
A lot of candy is very unsafe for dogs. Chocolate, xylitol and raisins are very toxic to dogs. If you're trick or treating with your kids, be sure your dogs do not pick anything up that the kids might drop. If you think your dog may have ingested something they shouldn't have call your vet right away, or go to your nearest vet emergency!

Keep your dog in a room or crate!
If you are handing out candy and someone comes to the door, does your dog love to run and great them or even run out the door?!
Be sure your dog is in another room, crate, or on "Place" before you open the door, hopefully this will prevent your beloved pet from getting lost on a scary night.

Loose leash walking!
Trick or treating is a fun time to take your dog out with the family. Be sure to be practicing leash safety and loose leash walking!
Be sure your dog isn't dragging you or anyone else around, make sure people can see that you have a dog with you (this might include light up leash/collar, or reflective gear)

Try to not bring your dog up to any other houses, stay back if you can. This can be scary to your dog, or you do not know if the person opening the door has a dog with them as well. Meeting a another dog unexpectedly can be a bad experience!

Beau is cute as a button and now he's got the manners and charm to go along with those good looks! He's been such a pleasure to work with and we are so proud of how far he's come during his 3 week board and train. He's going back home soon but we will miss him terribly!

Beau the Old English Bulldog rocking that loose leash walking in Pet Supplies "Plus" in Amherst today! Beau is with us for a board and train to work on obedience and general manners and we are so pleased with his progress. Such a sweet good-natured little dude. Absolute pleasure to work with!

Clark the Australian cattle dog mix is with us for a board and train program focused on reducing his overall anxiety and pessimism. When Clark got dropped off he was muzzled and nervous, not sure where he was or what was happening.

A few days into his program and Clark has already begun to see the bright side to life and is learning to trust through reward based training, exercise and play. Building a bond with a dog before asking that dog to perform obedience behaviors is important and too often this is overlooked.

Seeing a dog come out of his shell like Clark is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling parts of my job. Excited to see his progress over the next few weeks!

Meet Snickers! Snickers is from Cavapoos of WNY/Cavapoo Kennels and is joining us for a board and train to learn the basics of becoming the best house dog he can be. On top of working the basics (teaching him his name, sit, down come when called etc.) in the interest of making the most of his prime socialization window we have been taking him out into the world for safe, neutral and positive experiences with novel people places and things. During his most recent socialization trips Snickers had the opportunity to meet the employees at Home Depot and enjoy cart rides at Marshall's.
