About We Will Walk You!!
My life has gone to the dogs... and I love it!! It all started 13 years ago, when a naughty little Wheaten Terrier puppy named Spencer came galloping into my world. He was such an energetic boy and the only way to keep him busy and out of trouble was to play and walk with him... and walk and play...and then walk some more. And so began my life as a dog-walker. In 2009, I made it official when I started up my own dog walking business and called it, We Will Walk You!! Initially, it was strictly dog walks and let-outs, but over time, I began to get requests to care for other critters like kitties, bunnies, birds, fish and reptiles. The more the merrier!! And with that, my dog-walking expanded into a more expansive pet-wrangling gig. As an added service, I even started to do in-home dog boarding at our place. We have a regular little pack of hounds who love coming for Sleep-overs at Spencer’s House, and they get to enjoy all of the perks of staying at a home rather than individual rooms at a kennel. Speaking of Spencer’s house, Spencer was joined by our sweet, old lady rescue dog, Willow, who we loved with all our hearts and sadly lost 5 years ago. A couple of years later, we added two loony Miniature Wirehaired Dachshunds, Kiwi & Odin, to our roster. They certainly keep us on our toes, and they DEFINITELY keep us laughing!! Rounding out the We Will Walk You!! home team are our two (very patient) cats, Milo and Nox. In between walks, pet check-ins, and sleep-overs with We Will Walk You!!, I’ve spent the last 11 years caring for dogs and cats at a well-respected and well-loved local boarding kennel. I received certification in Emergency Canine First Aid and have extensive experience caring for pets with special physical and medical needs, administering meds and injections, supervising groups of dogs in the playground, bathing/brushing/combing cats and dogs and, yes, more walking... lots and lots of walking. I love to read, write, and watch birds flock to my feeders. In an effort to be my healthiest and fittest self (outside of the lots and lots of walking), I’ve recently incorporated working out and yoga into my daily routine...well, mostly daily. In the summertime, I do my best to help raise as many Monarch Caterpillars to Butterfly-hood as I can, and send them on their way to Mexico. But my absolute favourite pastime is curling up on my couch surrounded by my dogs and cats and any guest critters who feel like joining me... it’s a very big couch.
