April 2023. It was a nice morning for a long walk in our lake bed. Little did we know how hot it would get in just a couple of hours; it heated up very quickly in the lake bed and I could tell Riley wasn’t himself.

I have some updating to do… but this first, my home.

Custom manufactured Champion home in Bandera, TX (Hill and Wine Country). Two primary bedrooms and two primary bath suites. Almost 1,600sq ft home on 1/4 acre, WATER FRONT (when there is water in Medina Lake).

The hills and green lake bed view from the back yard is beautiful and boost a colorful sunrise. (I have an estimate for a large back porch and willing to build.). Come join me on the custom 27’x 10’ front porch and enjoy the sunsets.

A look-alike 10x12 shed, one full RV hook ups and one 30amp hook RV up. Two driveways.

Travis is the wonderful man on the other end of the phone this morning that said, “I’ll call and see if my head tech guy can come in on his day off and get on the road home”. I really didn’t think Travis would 1. Call me back 2. Get someone to come to work on a Saturday on his day off.

But it worked! Todd (head tech guy) came in to look at my truck and Travis (service manager) put my mind at ease that they would do everything in their power to get me back on the road taDay! Sweet!

And guess what! They did!

I’m embarrassed to say that FIVE other mechanics/dealerships missed a simple fix of my truck. Apparently, Todd was the only person that read Ford’s weekly bulletin that mention the vacuum hose needed to be disconnected and capped (honestly, I was so tired, sad, and stressed that Idr the exact issue). I was a happy camper to pay the bill and get out of there.

But first,

This photo is of me and Travis.

Not only did Todd fix my truck… Travis allowed me to graze along with his co-workers he and his wife cater to almost every weekend. I left Anderson, IN with a working truck, a smile on my face, and a fully belly!

I’m making my way straight to Tennessee! Is that a song title? I don’t plan on stopping the 8 hour drive to my sister’s! Wish me luck!

Several people have asked, “where is Riley during all this commotion?” Well, he is RIGHT NEXT TO ME! He is a great travel dog and companion - not to mention he never talks back, never complains, and always follows my instructions. Ha! NOT!

But he is a cutie pie!

Oh my! I’m still having truck issues. I’m currently in Fort Wayne, IN and I’m still hearing this screaming noise from the driver’s side tire.

I stopped at a Ford dealership and I was able to push myself to the front of the line because I’m “traveling through”, not to mention it’s Friday late afternoon (a weekend & vehicle trouble don’t mix).

This particular Ford dealership told me I needed the following items (see photos) but they didn’t have them in stock so I was only able to put on new front brakes, $900…I can’t believe I need new brakes yet, but here goes. The dealership stressed me out by telling me they might not be able to finish by closing time (another hotel night?). So Riley and I sweated it out in the waiting room working on paperwork. Whoa! They finished right at closing time!

On the road again! It’s 5pm Friday night.

PS. This is the 4th stop during this trip to a mechanic. The first two were in Memphis on the way to MI and then two here in IN on the way home.

Walking Riley. It’s like a walk in the park…but in the woods and harder. Who knew I was funny?

Today, John pointed out signs of beavers in the woods and in the lake. We counted 23 Bald Eagles flying around. Then later I was almost knocked out by a bat in the house as he flew next to my face. This all really happened, I’m not being funny this time. :)
