Who's gonna tell them?? Ok, I will. 😁
There is NO such thing as a 'Teacup' Chihuahua, and if you hear of the term being used, it's likely by a backyard breeder trying to sell puppies.
A 'teacup' Chihuahua is actually just a runt....aka a poorly bred dog.
Don't buy into it. Please.

It really is the key ingredient to a happy, healthy, and well-balanced dog! 😊
*this reel was shared from my dogs' own instagram page!* 😆
Hello everyone! 😄
Sorry it's been a while since I was active on here. Busy with study, placement, and everything else in between.
I've also been working on desensitisation to the nail clippers and building a positive association to them. It's a very slow process, especially with dogs that perhaps we've accidentally cut too far and got their quick!
Similar case with me and my Chihuahua, unfortunately when I tried cutting her dew claw she pulled away and the clippers were on the nail. Resulting in a painful experience, thankfully no blood or damage, but it was enough for her to NEVER want them done by me again. 🥲
So I've begun just by bringing the clippers out and not touching them and rewarding her for just being near them. Aswell as also touching her, starting with the just above her paws, when she doesn't react or pull away, I give her a treat. If she reacts, we take a short break and maybe go back a step. We don't want to stress them out, this needs to be a positive learning experience for them.
Next step, I want to be able to hold the clippers near her and treat for no reaction, then I pretend to clip the air so she also gets used to the noise. I'll also continue working on touching her legs and paws and again, treats for no reaction.
I even do this throughout the day, if she's relaxed, I'll give her a gentle pat on her tummy (she loves this) and will do a quick play with her paws.
Eventually, we want no resistance or pulling away, we want to see her happy and somewhat relaxed when the clippers make an appearance.
If at all you're not confident in clipping your dogs nails, don't do it. Leave it to a professional.
There's also electric files that you can try. However, again, desensitise your dog beforehand. Pavement walking can also help maintain the short length of your dogs nails.
I've also ordered a dog file board, basically a board with an emery board type surface and a compartment to hide a treat in, this encourages them to 'dig' and th
‼️When Dad triggers the zoomies button 🟢......😂
Also known as: Frenetic random activity periods.
Basically, just random bursts of energy! 🏃♀️🐕💨💨⚡️
My dogs have all had various zoomie 'triggers', Iggy does them after a bath, or when Griffin gets the zoomies.
🖤Do yours get the zoomies? If so, what's their trigger? If they have one...some just get them for no reason! 😂

A form of communication, and like barking, can have different meanings.
Like us, if we cry, it could be crying tears of happiness, sadness, or tears of rage, like I have done during the schol holidays! 😂😭
Just got to look at the overall picture (environment, body language, health of the dog, etc) to try to decipher the meaning.
E.G. A usually placid, loving dog that randomly starts growling at you, his absolute world, when you stroke his ears, could very well mean pain-perhaps an ear infection, not aggression.
Which is a little off subject/different to play growling, but you get the gist!
But he's so handsome! 😍

I surprisingly hear this alot!
When a dog isn't allowed in the house or a certain area of the house, because well, "they simply go apesh*t!"
Can you blame them?
My first Staffy was MENTAL, we tried cordoning off areas of the house, but it only made her worse. All she wanted was to be with us.
She calmed riiiiiiiiiight down once she had freedom! It was amazing.
I'm not saying you all should let your dogs run riot or give them free rein, keep the baby gates or playpens if you need/want.
I get that some people don't want their dog in the house (I have a strong opinion on that but won't go into that 😉) for whatever reason, but I know with Velcro dogs like the Staffy, they NEED to be with you!
They love their humans! How lucky are we? 🥰
'What you pet you get'
Basically, meaning, whatever behaviour/action your dog is doing, whilst you're petting/patting/paying attention to, is reinforcing it.
For example, my boy is still learning not to jump at people excitedly, but when someone even saying "no get down get down" or even looking at him, or touching him, that's a 'reward' so to speak. He knows it gets him attention! Negative or positive attention. It's attention. He loves it.
It's hard, but completely ignoring them and getting on with the washing, for example, is the better option!
They will soon grasp that:
calm/all 4 on the floor=positive attention.
And don't forget to pat/cuddle/kiss/treat when they're calm, and all four paws are on the floor! 🥰 🐾🐾

So proud of my little munchkin! 😍
Not once did I call her her or show her a treat, she just followed me as I changed directions. Prior to the oval and during walks, I always call her randomly and treat as soon as she even looks at me.
She even stopped mid run to bark at a dog! 😯
Her recall is about 98%!
I keep her on a long lead though just as a precaution for that 2% 😅
(eg a bird or another dog haha)
It took quite a while to get here and I'm hoping Griffin will follow suit eventually.
Although at the moment it's proving a bit more difficult as he makes his way through that 'teen' phase in puppyhood. 🥴
If you don't trust your dogs recall, keep them on a long lead until you have it 👌
No one likes seeing a dog racing towards them, especially if yours is on a lead and not friendly!

Sometimes people can't help but judge...I wear band tees, I have piercings and tattoos....and maybe I look rough/tough...I like to think I look tough anyway. 😉😂
Anyways....I made a reel just for this topic! 🤣
Love Jim Carey too and these movies.

Evening walks with my boy! 🌅
Loose lead walking.
For me (especially with large breed dogs) it's up there with recall and socialisation. Definitely should be a priority in training.
🦮Start asap (even if that's in the backyard before they're fully vaccinated)
🦮Teach them 'heel'
🦮Teach them to sit, wait at the front door and make eye contact with you before heading out the door.
🦮I always praise (and treat when I can) when Griffin looks at me during walks, and is walking how I want him to.
🦮If he pulls or tries approaching people like he did at the school today, a very quick (but not hard)tug on the lead and your word/noise of choice to correct/redirect him.
(mine is an AH!)
🐕🦺I always randomly talk to Griffin too, so here and there I'll just call his name (praise when he looks at me) or I'll suddenly change direction. Keeps him interested and also keeps him responsive to me.
🐕🦺Training for leash/lead manners can be extremely tedious and challenging. Especially when they pull!
Sometimes it means literally stopping your dog, as soon as they pull, and that'll happen every 1, 3, 5 seconds...but they will learn.
🐶All about consistency and all that positive reinforcement!
