Happy International Potcake Day!
If you have a potcake in your life, you know how special they are.
For those who don't know, potcakes are mixed-breed dogs (usually street dogs) from the Bahamas and other Caribbean Islands. The name comes from locals feeding them the caked remains at the bottom of cooking pots. The Bahama’s Kennel Club does recognize Potcakes as a breed.
Our sweet Marley was found at a few days old, with his badly injured mother and other siblings, and rescued by the wonderful people at the Potcake Puppy Palace in Nassau. Sadly one pup did not survive, but the rest have all gone on to be adopted into wonderful loving homes. Marley's mom was given the surgeries she needed, has recovered, and is now living her best life!!
We are forever grateful to those wonderful volunteers for all that they do. This is why I created a collection of Potcake items for humans, and am donating 50% of all potcake sales this month to the Potcake Puppy Palace!
Happy Potcake Day!!
