Do you remember the first 3 months of you bringing your dog home?

The 3-3-3 rule is a great way to figure out where your pup is at. Here’s what you can expect:

➡️ 3 days - Might not be eating - Is likely overstimulated by the new surroundings and is sleeping a lot. The added anxiety could cause your pup to have accidents and maybe even become sick. It’s important to allow your pup to come to you during this time and be patient.

➡️ 3 weeks - Slowly finding himself in his new home. He should be drinking and feeding normally. Never have your dog off leash during this time even if he feels totally comfortable. This is a great time to start training.

➡️ 3 months - Your dog definitely knows he is yours. Trust has been set and he is fully acclimated in his routine. His personality is fully formed and in love with his forever home.

Consider your upholstery: When I purchased our couch, I chose a really neutral pet and kid-friendly color. It was totally worth it.
Train your puppy at a young age: When you train a puppy, train them to be comfortable in one place. If you don't want them on the couch, find a bed that they love.
Bring baby wipes everywhere: If you have a dog or kids, baby wipes cure everything, literally.

SheepSkin - An easy, affordable solution to protect your furniture from scratches or licking. Every six months I'll go to the same place in Venice and replace them.
Avoid high-end rugs - If you have a pet, I will avoid buying high-end rugs. Everyone from Anthropologie to West Elm offers more affordable versions of Moroccan rugs that allow you to live together with ease.
Don't be too precious - Your space can't just be for show. It has to be for life. Mixing high and low in pricing creates an area that isn't precious, saving you a lot of stress from protecting your home from your pets.

4 pet-friendly design tips from photographer
Wiping her paws are essential: We’ve become obsessed with keeping Gracie’s paws clean, especially after being out and about. We use washable hand towels to keep her paws clean.
Groom regularly: We try our best to take her to the groomer every 3 months to control dander and matted hair. While this helps keep the house clean, more importantly, it keeps her happy and healthy longer.
Choose fabrics wisely: Our sofa is made out of a Crypton outdoor fabric, making it very easy to wipe down. I try to buy washable things, making for a non-fussy lived-in house.
Let the plants slide: This is a bit more of a life hack than anything else. But all of our plants have felt pads under them so we can quickly move them around throughout the day or get watered.

A little bit about us and our dogs…

Hi fam, as some of you may know, Drew and I have a sweet spot with adopting “the broken ones” - the seniors, the runts, the ones they say “you can’t fix”.

It all started with Gable in 2017, our 13 year old puppy who inspired the creation of . He will forever be our mascot.

Then came Kody, our 10 year old spunky dachshund who we call our COVID angel. He fell into our laps on March 2020 passing away exactly 1 year later – the day quarantine was lifted. We are so grateful for that year being just the 3 of us.

Stella is our latest addition and after the shelter said “good luck”, we set out on a mission to give her the life she never knew was possible. As a fearful dog, training her in the comfort of our home was our only option and after going through 8 sessions virtually with a certified trainer, it changed her life.

And that’s why we started – a first of its kind holistic training program that helps new dog parents with everything they need to welcome a dog into their forever home.

We’re here for you, so thank you for being on this journey with us. I promise you won’t regret it.
