www.pawsandplanet.store For the last few years we have tried to live more sustainably with a focus on using less plastic, switching to a vegan diet and composting our waste food. When we bought Vinnie home we wanted the products we bought fo
r him to be eco-friendly too. We found that there were lots of great sustainable products out there but we could never find them all in one place, which meant trawling through different websites and paying multiple delivery charges. So, we decided to bring them all together in one place to make it quicker and easier for you to find everything you need to make your dog an ! We are firm believers that it is possible to make simple everyday changes to reduce our impact on the planet without compromising on quality and choice. We hope this will be the place that you discover products that both you and your dog will love for years to come.

This dog toy is made from ocean bound plastic which has been converted into recycled polyester yarn and fillings. This removes the threat from our eco-system and reduces the dependence on virgin plastics which are harmful to the environment
The whole reason we started our little business was to provide a range of eco-friendly alternatives for dog owners and really reduce the environmental impact that owning a dog can have.
One of the key things for us was to avoid plastic wherever we could, particularly when it comes to packaging - there's no point in sourcing amazing plastic free, eco alternatives if you then send it out wrapped in a load of plastic, right?
With this in mind, the majority of our packaging is made from cardboard and paper. We always use 100% recycled materials where possible and try to use minimal packaging to avoid waste, however, we're still conscious of what we do use and want to replace what we take, hence why we decided to plant trees for every order placed through our store ♻️🌱
In the 8 months that we've been running the business, we've manged to plant over 5,000 trees. This is something that we're extremely happy about and we're so grateful for your support and help in making this happen - so thank you 💚

These leads are made from a combination of upcycled t-shirts and ocean-bound plastics, turning materials that were destined to pollute the environment into premium recycled fabric leads that are soft, durable and extremely hard wearing.
Designed in the UK and manufactured in Italy from high quality sustainable materials, Project Blu prove that sustainability and style can work in harmony and, since 2019, they have converted over 6 million plastic bottles into amazing pet products! ♻️
Every single year, it is estimated that over 10 million tonnes of plastic ends up in our oceans. This is the equivalent to five grocery bags filled with plastic for every foot of coastline in the world - what a shocking statistic!
Millions of animals are killed every year by plastics - from birds to fish and other marine organisms, nearly 700 species, including some that are endangered, are known to have been affected by plastics.
Over 90% of all sea bird species have consumed plastic and even land-based animals, including elephants, zebras, tigers and camels have been found to have eaten and even died after consuming plastics.
Even to this day, 40% of the plastics produced each year are single-use, such as plastic bags and food wrappers, which have a lifespan of hours if not minutes, however, they can exist in our environment for hundreds of years.
We know that the solution is much bigger than us and requires the whole cycle to be looked into - from production to recycling. However, there are definitely things that we can all do to reduce our impact.
Here are our top 3 tips for reducing your plastic consumption as a dog owner:

Three things that we can all try to do more of - reduce, re-use and recycle.
We've popped a few of our favourite ideas below. We'd love to hear your tips on how you get creative and reduce, reuse and recycle. Let us know in the comments below.
Reduce - You could reduce the amount of meat your dog consumes, particularly if they eat a lot of environmentally impactful meats such as beef and lamb. Maybe try some plant based treats every now and then rather than meat based ones!
Re-use - Dogs often grow tired of toys or have ones that they play with less often. Rather than throw them out, you could check if anyone you know with a pup could make use of them or even donate them to a dog shelter. The same goes for collars and accessories - if your dog has simply outgrown them, maybe someone else could use them - as long as they're in good condition of course!
Recycle - We love the idea of recycling old household items, such as t-shirts or tea towels, and fashioning them into dog toys - great for a game of tug or wrapped up with treats inside!
