During the process, the micro chip, about the size of a grain of rice is inserted into the dog’s neck. They range from $25-$50. It’s virtually painful to have inserted. There’s a small chance for side effects. If found, a scanner is used to locate the microchip and the finder can more easily and quickly contact you. How do you feel about micro chipping? Just like humans, dogs need reassurance that they are loved and valued in the same way. Giving them treats and taking them to the dog park are both great. But a simple belly or head rub can help put them at ease and feel more connected to you.

: In the pet culture, there’s a huge push to adopt pets needing their rather than shopping for the perfect breed. Do you agree? Do we need to adopt more? Should there be a huge shift in focus on adoption only? Is it negligent to shop for a specific breed of animal when there are so many in need of a home?

Don’t you love the where the precious animals are rescued just in time??

We pulled mama Gracen from a shelter two months ago with a suspicion she was pregnant (and heartworm positive 😢). Now.. look at these lives! They are alive because of an emergency c-section on Sunday night. Imagine if she had them in the shelter 💔. The puppies were just born so they will not be on petfinder yet. We will repost when they become available!

Is your dog not loving the water? That’s okay. Some dogs are natural swimmers and others are not. Even if you put your dog in the water and they appear to be doing a doggie paddle, it doesn’t automatically mean they are a natural swimmer. For some dogs it’s an act of survival rather than natural ability. Research your dog breed’s common ability before expecting them to know how to swim naturally.
