Watch where your dog plays
Although your dog is likely having a great time outdoors, take frequent indoor breaks for water and warming and don’t ever stay out too long. If you’re walking or playing in unfamiliar areas, keep your dog close. It’s easy for her to venture onto unsafe surfaces such as frozen ponds or lakes. These may be covered in snow and not easily visible.

Paw care is a must
Just as we tend to develop foot cracks in winter, dogs can also suffer from cracked pads. If your dog has furry feet, trim the hair that grows between her pads to prevent ice buildup between the pads. Winter salt on city sidewalks can also burn your dog’s pads and is toxic, so after walks around the neighborhood, rinse or wipe your dog’s paws to remove any salt – you don’t want her licking it off. If your dog shows signs of discomfort when walking outside on frozen or salted surfaces, consider using dog booties to protect her paws.

23/12/2019

Groom your dog
Your dog needs a clean, well-groomed coat to keep her properly insulated. This is especially important if your dog spends a lot of time outdoors. After bathing, dry your dog thoroughly, especially before allowing her outside.

23/12/2019

Keep your dog hydrated
Dogs can dehydrate just as quickly in winter as summer. Although many dogs eat snow, it’s not an adequate substitute for fresh water. If your dog spends time outdoors in your yard, make sure she has access to a water bowl, check it often and break ice that forms on top.

Dogs will often seek heat during cold winter weather by snuggling too close to heating sources. Avoid space heaters and install baseboard radiator covers to avoid your pet getting burned. Fireplaces also pose a major threat so please make sure you have a pet proof system to keep your heat-seeking pal out of harm’s way!

Caring for a Pregnant Dog
1. Proper Nutrition

Not make any breaks to her nutrition for the first part of her pregnancy if your dog is on a good quality dog food and is at a healthy weight
As her weight increases in the last 5 weeks of her pregnancy, the AKC recommends rising her feed intake gradually, until she consumes 35-to-50 percent more than usual
Increase her intake slowly and feed her little, frequent meals, as large parts of food can cause disadvantage
2. Visits to the Vet

Visit veterinary regular to maintain a dogs healthy state.

How Long is a German Shepherd Pregnancy / Gestate?
From the time of conception, the average length of the pregnancy / gestate is about 63 days.

Since German Shepherds are large dogs, their pregnancy term may be slightly longer than that of a tiny breed.

Since you will want to monitor your GSD (German Shepherd Dog) pregnancy very closely, ideally you should keep track of the GSD female’s heat period and note how many times she is bred and record the dates and times.

That way you will have almost the exact data on the conception.

You’ll be able to note the due date based on an approximate 63 day gestation period.

Grooming your Dog Daily??
Brushing your dog regularly will not only get rid of any unwanted hair that might get trapped on your clothes or furniture, but it can also be a good way to check the health of his skin and coat. You'll be able to more easily find any parasites that might be hiding away like ticks or fleas. It's also important to make sure your dog keeps up to date with his flea and tick medication to help prevent from getting bitten by these parasites. You'll also be able to better see any bare spots in his fur where he has been scratching — this is a good indicator that it is time to take him to the vet and get a check-up to rule out any conditions that might be affecting his skin or coat. Grooming can also help you discover any lumps or bumps that you want to get checked out by your veterinarian. Plus, a regular brush is a good way for you and your dog to bond; after all, who doesn't love a nice brush massage?

Don't forget your dog's toenails too. Make sure to keep them trimmed and clean to help prevent breaks and infections. If you're not comfortable trimming them at home, talk to your vet or groomer about them having professionally trimmed.

Tip number two: Puppies need to chew on things. It helps their jaws and teeth develop properly. Provide them with appropriate things to chew on and securely store things you don't want them to chew on.

Tip number two: Puppies need to chew on things. It helps their jaws and teeth develop properly. Provide them with appropriate things to chew on and securely store things you don't want them to chew on.

Tip number three: Dogs are social creatures. It is not good for them to be left alone for long periods of time. Use some form of doggie day care if you have to be away from the dog for more than a couple of hours. When you must be away for short periods, provide the dog with a food-filled toy such as a stuffed Kong or a treat-dispensing ball. Make up for the extra calories by reducing other food intake if you have to, but give the dog something interesting to do while you are gone.

Tip number four: Dogs bark because they are trying to alert their senior pack member (you) to something. Get up and see what the dog is barking about. If it's not something you want the dog to tell you about in the future, just go back to whatever you were doing. If it is something you'd like to be alerted about in the future, praise the dog for telling you about it. Do this consistently from the beginning and you will eventually have a dog who only alerts you to things you want to know about, such as people approaching your home.
Basically, find out what behaviors are natural to dogs and work with those behaviors rather than trying to train them out of your dog.

How Is Fish Oil Good For Dogs?
Fish oil is full of healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, which your dog might be missing if they’re eating a lot of high-grain foods. Ask your vet how much fish oil you should be giving your dog before adding this supplement, however.

Your vet may also be able to tell you which of the three fish oil types (natural triglyceride, ethyl ester oil, or synthetic triglyceride) would also be best suited to your dog with the appropriate dietary information. This will be equally important if you end up needing to supplement Vitamin E or Omega-6 into their diets down the line.

Fish oil is great for many things in dogs–and people. It has anti-inflammatory properties that help with coats and skin health, and it reduces shedding. It can also be beneficial to brain and eye development in puppies and works for pregnant dogs and cats to improve the health of their offspring.

Parvo Virus Treatment in Home (Diarrhea & Vomiting in Puppy)

What is Parvo Virus?

Parvo Virus is common disease in dogs now a days, specially puppies up to 6 months and mostly vet owners don’t know how to deal with this disease.
So, let’s talk step by step.
1st day of parvo when your dog stopped eating and drinking and frequently doing diarrhea and vomiting so you need to take your dog to nearest Vet, I would recommend you “Animal Hospital” near “PN SHIFA Hospital”, they will provide your dog or puppy with initial medical treatment and they will start the antibiotics and supporting fluids through “IV”, please make sure to remove any water or food bowl from your dog for at least 3 days. Complete diet will be provided through IV injections. You need to repeat this IV fluids almost 3 times a day as per doctor recommendation.

2nd day, your dog will be bit better but make sure not to give him anything to eat or drink & repeat the same IV fluids whole day & please make sure to keep your puppy in clean place and all the clothes of your dog will be cleaned properly. You can also use home bleach with firnayl mixed to clean the place of your dog so this way you can also get rid of the parvo smell. Make sure to through all the clothes and belongings of parvo dog or else wash properly in bleach and keep your puppy on dry and clean place.
3rd day, congratulations your dog will start responding and waging his tale Infront of you which means he is bit better now, start with small diet for example try with some water and small quantity of boil chicken but make sure not to feed him in large quantity and not to force him to eat.
4th day, try with regular meal of your dog.

Note: I recommended you to Animal Hospital because its cheap and nearest and they charge almost 1500 – 2000 PKR including medicines, secondly, I had my personal experience with them many times. I usually take care of my dogs in my home and Thanks to God they are quite healthy, active now. Parvo is a disease so it can attack your dog anytime either he had vaccination or not. But once your puppy is recovered from Parvo he won’t get attacked again from parvo.
Hope you like my post and its helpful to you so please like and subscribe my page now for new updates.

When we adopt a dog or any pet, we know it is going to end with us having to say goodbye, but we still do it. And we do it for a very good reason: They bring so much joy and optimism and happiness. They attack every moment of every day with that attitude.
