Shih Tzu care
The Shih Tzu is a dog that can live in an apartment or in a country house. He likes to always be in the company of his family and he should live indoors, even if he goes outside to play.

He is not a very active dog, so it is enough for him to take small walks every day.

It is a breed sensitive to high temperatures, so it should be kept in a room with air conditioning or fans on very hot days.

You should be careful with heights, since it is a dog that likes to jump from your arms or from furniture. You are not afraid to do it and it is easy for these jumps to end up causing you some serious injury. The fall is usually head-on and can even lead to a concussion.

The Shih Tzu is docile and friendly to everyone, but it also needs early socialization and training to develop into a balanced dog. He is a somewhat difficult dog to train. With him, cage training works well.

To keep your hair in perfect condition, you should brush and detangle it daily. Purchase appropriate brushes and combs to do all the grooming, making sure to brush down to the skin without harming your dog.

By 10 to 12 months of age, the Shih Tzu's hair sheds to that of an adult. During this stage, it is easy for it to tangle more often, but it is a temporary thing that will last about three months, until the adult coat is fully developed.

The Shih Tzu's nails should be trimmed monthly.

Their ears need a weekly check for dirt, redness, or a bad smell. Clean them with a cotton swab moistened with ear cleaner specifically for dogs. If your dog has a lot of ear infections, you may need to remove the hair that grows inside his ear canal. Consult your vet.

His face also needs daily care, as it gets dirty after eating and his eyes water easily. Wash it with a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water.
