Rocky is neutered and good with kids, adults and most dogs. But he’s NOT loving life living in a semi-truck. Like so many, he needs a home and maybe a yard. We’ve spoken to his owner who is determined to rehome Rocky in a responsible fashion, so we are trying to help by posting him. An application will be required. Please share Rocky. Meet Rosa, an Australian shepherd-blue heeler mix, born in March 2015. She is house trained, kennel trained, cat friendly and knows a few commands, including: sit, stay and lay down. Rosa seems okay with school-aged children, and even though she lived with another dog previously, we think she would enjoy being an only dog.

She is playful and enjoys her squeaky toys, but overall has a lower energy level. Her foster mom describes her as loyal, sweet and protective. Rosa respects boundaries, like the kitchen, and will only enter when given permission. Two of her favorite things in life include: going for walks and riding in the car.

She’s had some training in the past and we’re willing to pay for additional sessions. Rosa is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and weighs 49 lbs. Our suggested adoption donation for Rosa is $200 and our life-time support is included.

Here’s a small dog with a broken hind leg and an injured owner trying to save her dog’s leg. Please consider a donation to Sadie Dog Fund to help Bella Brown! Use the link in the comment to chip in using your CC or Paypal.

Friends, we have a serious emergency surgery pending for sweet Bella. She is an 8 year old, spayed Morkie-Poo. She has a fractured right hind leg and needs surgery as soon as possible before the leg begins to heal over. We are talking about 1-3 days maximum time or she may lose her leg. She is currently in so much pain.

The owner has paid for her consultation and can pay about $400 more. The estimate is for $4057.00.

Sadie Dog Fund can help with some of the cost but unfortunately not all.

Bella's Mom was rear ended in a horrible car accident recently. She was injured badly and has been in rehab trying to heal her arm. She just returned to light duty work so she is very short on funds.
She says Bella is in horrible pain. We just can't have that 😢

Can you help this little girl from Lincoln get the surgery she needs before it's too late?

We are asking that you act now and donate to Sadie Dog Fund to save Bella's leg. We will be the keeper of the funds for the veterinarian.

Please note that you donation is for Bella Brown's surgery. We need to raise $3000.

Please help as much as you can by donating to our website Paypal page at:

Urgent foster home needed for this bonded pair of Pomeranians! 🚨 Koko is 8 years old and her older brother, Sebastian, is 10. They have lived together most of their lives and recently became homeless. They’ve been fixed, vaccinated and groomed, but Sebastian is starting to show signs of stress from being boarded, so we need to find a low-traffic foster home for them as soon as possible. We’d prefer a home in Lincoln or nearby with a fenced yard where someone is home most of the day. Can you help or spread the word? Please comment below or send us a message.

One of our partner veterinarians once said, “Never underestimate the resilience of a dog,” and 15-year-old maltipoo Delores (on the right) might be yet another example. She lived in a memory care unit in Wahoo with her previous owner until it was no longer a manageable situation. Dee doesn’t see the best and can’t hear the best, but she can follow her nose and she fits wonderfully into this family that adopted her recently. And she was even acting like she wanted to play with one of her new fur brothers this week. Thanks to her foster, these adopters and all of our donors who helped Delores avoid going to a shelter or being prematurely put down at this late stage of life. Yet another furry tail ending!

Hobsy!
This is not our usual adoption story for a senior dog. Warning…It is a sad story but Hobsy got his forever home.

In the spring we received an email from a young woman battling cancer. She had no children, except her beloved pup Hobsy. Hobsy’s mom was losing her cancer battle and wanted her 14 year old Lhasa Apso baby to be safe. NNKCR answered, we knew we needed to help. We found a foster family wanting to help a senior dog. They also had 2 senior Shih Tzu and a cat. They were willing to foster Hobsy as long as he needed.

The rescue and the foster family made sure lots of updates were given to Hobsys mom in hospice; pictures and videos. Thanks to our donors, Hobsy was also able to have a medical procedure that his mom could not afford. His foster family cared for him in his recovery and in a few weeks, shared they wanted to adopt Hobsy when the time came. Hobsy’s mom was relieved to know he was safe and happy.

Sadly, last month, Hobsy’s mom passed away quietly in her sleep. Hobsy came into rescue confused like most dogs, but he was never abandoned. He was loved till the end. He moved from a home full of love to another home full of love.

Hobsy is a happy senior boy. He loves his daily walks and big backyard. He loves his new family. Especially his cat sibling. The two sleep side by side every night. Thank you to our community for donating to ensure Hobsy received the medical attention he needed. Thank you the fosters that took in an old boy and shared his life with his sick mom. Our rescue could not do the work without all the support. Thank you for being there for Hobsy and his mom! ❤️🐾

It’s a rare day when we have not just one, but TWO miniature dachshunds, to tell you about. ChooChoo is the black and tan dapple female and Murray in the red male. Both are smooth-coated, senior doxies available to separate homes and both do very well with other dogs…

ChooChoo

Meet Chewy, affectionately nicknamed ChooChoo! She was loved by her previous owner, who resided in an assisted living facility, but when ChooChoo was diagnosed with diabetes, a variety of factors led to her being surrendered. We were told our beautiful girl is a Chiweenie (dachshund/chihuahua mix), but she definitely looks and acts more like a mini dachshund.

ChooChoo is 13 years young and loves everyone she meets. In foster care, she resides with another senior dog and a cat. ChooChoo is a shy, quiet girl that loves walks in the morning, time to roll in the grass, stopping to smell the flowers and a nap in the afternoon. She is a low-key pup that would do best in a home with another dog to follow around.

She does enjoy children, but we think she would prefer a home with school-aged kids or no kids. After all, she’s in her senior years and deserves a quiet place to nap. A work-from-home person or retiree would be ideal since ChooChoo does get anxious when left by herself. She gives so much love that you might not want to leave the house, but you definitely won’t know what you did without her.

We will provide coaching on how to manage her diabetes, which is easier than you might imagine. If you do want to go on vacation, no problem! Her current foster family is willing to keep her while you are traveling. If you are unsure about the care diabetic dogs require, please submit an application or email the rescue at: [email protected] and we will call to discuss.

Murray

At 12 years of age, Murray might surprise you with his enthusiasm for walks, but true to being a miniature dachshund, he also loves to snuggle and sleep under blankets. Used for breeding when he was a younger dog, Murray was adopted from a Nebraska shelter about two years ago. When his owner started working 10-hour days, she decided to responsibly rehome him.

His house training is not 100% trustworthy, so he wears a belly band in the house and usually holds it until given time to potty outside. Murray has done so well with other dogs in foster care that we’d recommend a home with at least one other small dog.

Murray does not play with toys and he’s not a fan of loud noises, so he’d like a quiet, peaceful home. We’ve never heard him bark and he seems to adapt easily to new situations. He seeks attention from humans, but is fairly low maintenance. Murray is also an enthusiastic eater, so he might need to be fed separately from other pets so he doesn’t eat more than his share.

He's taking a joint supplement, but no other meds and his lab work is excellent. In addition, his dental issues have all been addressed. We would prefer a home with either no stairs or limited access to stairways. Murray has been a joy to foster and we look forward to choosing the best fit for his forever home. His adoption donation request is $200 and our lifetime support option is included. Please apply via our website!

20/07/2024

Tank is a handsome German shepherd mix in need of a stable foster or adoptive home so he can avoid yet another trip to a shelter in his young life. Estimated at 3-4 years of age, he was adopted in 2022 and has bounced around with family members since then, but we’d like to help put an end to this cycle for Tank.

Do you like to cuddle in bed? Tanky-panky is your boy! He’s a master. He also knows several commands. Tank is 100% house trained and can be somewhat selective with other dogs. Some of this is due to being shy, so we have a trainer who would like to help boost his confidence. Our rescue will cover the cost of this training because he’s worth every penny.

He has seen a vet recently and has no health concerns. Tank is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped and current on flea/tick prevention.

Tank does well when walked on leash by himself and if you have other dogs, we would want to appropriately introduce him to make sure all goes smoothly.

At 75 pounds, he’s a large dog, but with the exception of occasional zoomies, he’s more often a low-energy, laid back dog. Tank is even good with cats! And we’re awarding bonus points to all applicants who are retired or work from home. Our application is available online and we’d love to see the right person apply for Tank.

In the blur of rescuing dogs, placing them into foster care and needing to help the next urgent crisis, sometimes we forget to celebrate our victories. But this morning, we wanted to share four of our recent Adoptions where the process of fostering helped our dogs earn furever homes. Jasmine, Princess, Rosie and Pepper all found loving homes with people who chose our “Foster-to-Adopt” model where we offer training and medical support before finalizing any adoption paperwork. Congratulations to all and thanks for choosing adoption when adding to your family!

Do you have a sweet tooth? Let Hershey sweeten up your life! She is a spayed female, 12-pound Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix and is approximately 10 years old. She gets along with people, dogs and cats, but due to her size, would probably do best with older children. Hershey is housebroken and walks well on a leash. She is a certified snuggle bug and likes to be loved on. She is up-to-date on her shots and has recently had her teeth cleaned. Hershey truly is as sweet as they come!

Coe found a home, so maybe Ruby can too! Please share to spread the word…

Ruby is a 5-7 year old German Shepherd female who has been in our care since November of 2022. That means she has been with us over 600 days!😢

Ruby is on the older side, but doesn’t act her age one bit. Once she gets comfortable she loves to play with toys and run around. She is so sweet and loves to lean into you to be petted. She loves attention, no matter what it looks like, even baths and brushing!
Ruby LOVES the water, she likes to lay in our small pool and dig in the outdoor water bowl.💦

Ruby is good with some other dogs, potentially okay with cats, but isn’t sure of kids and their sudden movements.
Ruby is up to date on vaccines and spayed.

Come meet Ruby! We are open 5-8pm on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday or by appointment.❤️

Looking for a little dog that is unfazed by Independence Day noise? Then check out this little firecracker! 🧨 Delores is a sweet and feisty senior who does NOT act her age! And we have video proof. This 6-pound maltipoo spent the first 15 years of her life with her loving owner but that person was struggling to care for her in a memory care facility. In spite of this, Delores has adjusted well to life with her foster family. She ignores cats and can build trust with resident dogs who are not too nosy. She loves to strap on her silver sneakers for walks and rides in the car. Her hearing and vision aren’t what they used to be, but otherwise you’d never guess her age! She is a champion sleeper, snoozing in dog beds most of her day and sleeping through the night on her foster parents’ bed. She is perfectly house trained and has great house manners. We hope there’s room in your heart and your home for this tiny girl.

Adoption update! Big Boy Maverick is Home!!

Our handsome boy Maverick found his home after spending some time in foster getting the help he needed. Maverick came to us from our friends at CHS. He was seriously overweight and needed help for his painful arthritis. After months in foster, working on his weight-loss and exercise plan, Mav lost over 30 pounds! He also got help for his painful arthritis. All the work from Mav and his foster family led to his new forever family.

Maverick hit the jack pot. He found the perfect home for him. He now has a family that includes another senior pup brother and 2 young boys to watch over. Maverick loves his huge back yard! The boys can run and play and Mav can chase a ball (when his arthritis lets him). His new home only has a few steps to maneuver. It is a great home for an older guy!

You are home now Mav! We had to include extra family pictures as Maverick loved giving kisses to his new dad. 😍😜This is the happy ending Maverick deserved!
