Grieving a beloved companion animal is not always understood or accepted in our society. As a result, we are often left feeling alone and isolated.

Hello,
I am very excited and to be honest, I’m incredibly scared/intimidated to be putting my wish of wanting to help those who are grieving the loss of their pet “out there” for whoever to see!! But, here I am so let me introduce myself!
My name is Lyndell Drever. I am a Companion Animal Loss & Grief Recovery Companion (completed training through the American Institue of Health Practitioners) and a Registered Social Worker. I have grieved deeply for many of my pets and often felt that no one really understood the connection that I had with the animal, how much they meant to me and how intense the grief of losing them was.
I have been co-facilitating grief support groups for many years and saw over and over again the immense healing that can occur when a person is given a safe place to share his/her memories, stories and the many different emotions that come with grief. Our society is evolving, however, there is still quite a taboo around grief and even more when it comes to grieving the loss of an animal. Animals often play significant roles in our lives and individuals can grieve deeper for the loss of their companion animal than they would for a family member or friend. However, grieving a beloved companion animal is not always understood or accepted in our society, and as a result, we are often left feeling alone and isolated.
