Camillia is still doing remarkably well!
She is a therapy horse and also teaches horse-handling skills to her friends.
Ruth is her best friend and they now share a pasture together.
Miracle has been moved to the front field to give Camillia a break.

Last night I called for them and she and Miracle came running! I made a mental note to capture it tonight and well, this is what I got 🤦♀️

An Oaky Doak Farm source confided in me that Ms Camillia was spotted cozying up to a new fella.
So many questions! They denied nor confirmed but looks like something’s up.

I have been nominated by Karen to post a photo of something that brings me joy…so here I am with a mare named Camillia.She is a walking miracle who defeated the jaws of death and she brings so much joy and wisdom not mysterious life.

“A fellow animal advocate and I are heading home tomorrow. I know its short notice but wondering if we could stop by for a few minutes to see Oaky Doak Farm? I understand if that is your “day off” and dont want visitors.”
Well, we do try to take Sunday afternoons “off” but it was important to us to meet these beautiful ladies in person. I’ve known one of them for a while because she was very vocal in advocating for Camillia.
What a sweet moment when they finally got to meet. There may have been a few tears shed today 💜💜💜

Our sweet girl received her annual vaccinations today along with the rest of the Oaky Doak Farm herd today. Camillia and all 18 of her friends are now protected against preventable diseases.

These are moments caught candidly this morning. Our granddaughter 9 and grandson 7 waiting on me to get the donkey feed buckets ready spent that time absorbing Camillia’s story and then immediately went out to pet her.
To make a difference, sometimes it’s focusing on the next generation teaching them the lessons we’ve learned. Where we have failed the innocent, a passion can be ignited in the young people to carry on the change we began.
April 22nd 12-3pm we gather as a community at Oaky Doak Farm to celebrate what we have all began working together to impact change.

Not one bit of progress today! Seems we’ve started all over again.
He didn’t show. His court appointed attorney was in another courtroom handling a DSS case. How she was ever assigned to him in the first place makes no sense. He will be reassigned a new attorney and has been charged with failure to appear again which means another warrant for his arrest.
Sat there all morning. None of this was addressed until 1pm!
What this means is the games at how to avoid sentencing is being strategically played by a veteran criminal who knows the laws work in his favor.
If you ever want a glimpse into why criminals have no fear of consequence, sit in a courtroom watching the circus.

Will the case be continued again?
We anticipate it most likely will but we will be there making our presence known that we expect he receive the highest penalty.
Unfortunately, the laws are lax and do not deter future criminal behavior. That’s where work needs to be done!
Until our laws have stiffer penalties, life long criminals, like this man, know their actions have no accountability.
Camillia came to Oaky Doak Farm with a body score of 1. The Veterinarian was out yesterday to assess her current condition. She is now a healthy 6!! 🙌 And has gained 500 pounds!! She is a walking miracle.
We cannot wait to tell you about the journey of the other 5 horses cruelly starved. Soon. Very soon!!

Camillia! Leading up to our 3rd anniversary celebration of Come Meet the ODF Herd, we have been featuring a rescue each day. I thought you guys would like to see who was featured today 😊 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Our ODF rescue spotlight of the day! She came into our life on 4/19/22 and after Veterinary care, arrived at our farm on 4/22/22 Photo op with Camillia, as long as it doesn’t overwhelm her, on Sunday, November 20th 12-3pm 🐎 oakydoakfarm.org 🐎
Camillia’s journey began April 18th exactly 5-months ago. We estimated her weight to be around 650 pounds as she lay almost dead on that heartless human’s cruel, cold ground. It’s hard to say for sure because her body score was barely a 1 out of 9 (body score of 0 is dead) when she arrived at the Veterinarian Hospital. Today, she is somewhere between 940-950 pounds!!!! Her hind quarters still need to fill out and gain muscle mass. We will begin her exercise program in order to help her progress to build her muscles. I love how my background of health, wellness and nutrition for humans has translated so well to horses. It truly isn’t that complicated. She needed quality nutrition, a stress-free environment, love and support for her to overcome her past. I know full well she feels all of your support on her journey to the girl she should be!
