Cat Rescue Team We want to aid with community outreach and spay/neuter and partner with others to save lives.

An all-volunteer organization, we donate our labor and spend from our own pockets to help animals and we're very grateful for every dollar donated.

NOV. 18, 11:15 pm UPDATE: Our hearts are crushed as we report that Alex, the kitten we tried to save today, did not make it. At eight weeks old, Alex weighed two pounds and was found outside alone, trying to survive.
-
Cold and sick, Alex was in pain when he moved and was showing neurological symptoms. He could barely stand and was limping. During the short time that he was inside with the finder, his eating declined.
-
At the vet hospital, we authorized labs and x-rays. The vet said the hospital was not able to fully complete all the lab work because they could not get enough blood from Alex, so they were unable to assess his kidneys and liver. His blood pressure was very low and he was not maintaining his body temperature.
-
X-rays showed what the vet believed to be bone fragments in his stomach, and she thought Alex may have eaten a dead mouse that had been poisoned. This poor baby was only trying to survive.
-
The hospital knew the finder had no funds to pay a bill and that we were trying to help this homeless kitten, so the bill was $360. As promised, we paid Alex’s hospital bill. We’re covering expenses for cats and kittens on an ongoing basis. Any contribution in memory of Alex, will help us help another kitty. Donation information is below in this post.

Los Angeles, Boyle Heights, California, 17 Nov 2024
INJURED KITTEN NEEDS YOUR HELP!
UPDATE: We're sending her to the vet and trying to get her in tomorrow (18 Nov). Donations needed. See below. Foster still needed.
-
This kitten is crying in pain! Although standing in the video, the kitten is visibly shaking and reportedly has been dragging his/her back legs. Est. age is eight weeks old. We have not received the kitten's gender, because handling the kitten to check gender causes the kitten pain. The finder is seeking rescue help for the kitten.
-
As of this post, the kitten has no foster, nor funding. The finder is unable to care for the kitten full time, and has a valid reason for being unavailable to transport the kitten to a vet tomorrow.
-
We still have cats in foster care, with ongoing bills for food, supplies, spay/neuter and other medical care. We can't support another animal without both a foster home and donations to cover medical care. We have recently been contacted to help two sick, plus another injured cat, all of which were posted earlier.
-
We have more requests for medical aid than we can accommodate. Rescue organizations are welcome.

Ontario, CA. 6 Nov. 2024. PLEASE SHARE AGAIN! KITTIES CANNOT GET HELP WITHOUT TEMP FOSTER.
-
Ontario, CA. 29 Oct. 2024. Sick and living outside. Needs temporary foster care in or near Ontario or Pasadena, CA for duration of medical treatment. Can be returned to property when recovered.
-
Our hands are full with other projects and this was initially slated as a small TNR project, but so far, cats have been sick and two have died. This kitty looks healthier than the two that passed, but does need medical care. There is also a second cat that reportedly needs vet care, but we do not have a photo yet. Rescues are welcome.

IMAGINE A KITTEN WHOSE EYESIGHT IS SAVED BECAUSE OF YOU!
-
A few weeks ago, sick and neglected kittens were dying in a Barstow home. We rescued nine surviving kittens from that property. With vet care and an attentive foster mom, these formerly emaciated kittens are now playful and have gained weight. However many still have eye conditions requiring further treatment, and we fear one may be close to blind. These kittens need YOUR help!
-
Five of the above kittens, plus another one from a nearby location, are slated to see an ophthalmologist this week. Funding is needed to cover their consult fees and medicines. Not all kittens are shown with this post.

29 Oct. 2024. UPDATES RE: BARSTOW KITTENS. We have nine kittens from the Barstow 2 location and one from Barstow 4. Kittens are doing great, but their food, litter, medical and other supplies, and vet care are expensive. We need YOUR HELP to provide vet care and supplies. Donations of supplies and food can be sent via our wish list below. Monetary donations also help pay for supplies, as well as vet bills and other needs to support their care. If you send an item via the wish list, please notify us so we can track the order and send our thanks!

16 Oct 2023. Lunay arrived last night! Though emaciated with respiratory and FIP symptoms, LUNAY loves to snuggle. She arrived in foster care with no appetite, so her foster is syringe feeding her for now, and we'll be getting her to the vet right away.
-
The amazing foster that is taking care of Lunay recently plumped up and improved the health of nine underfed and sick kittens in just 10 days, so we know Lunay is in good hands!
-
Lunay will be transferred to another outstanding foster next week that will finish up her medical care and help get her adopted.
-
With so many dire needs in a couple Barstow homes, we at Cat Rescue Team felt we had no choice but to step up right away to take in sick cats; and fix others. To prevent more sick and dying kittens, we are fixing 16 cats from the Barstow #2 location this week. This situation and others like them are so urgent, we cannot stop and fundraise. Your donation--in any amount--will help us to keep going with this case and others like them. Please help us help the baby kittens and the older cats, as well as humans that care about them with a donation. Please also share this post.
-
Thanks to the transporter that drove all the way from Barstow (and back home) to get help for Lunay.

Update--5 Oct 2024: We have LUNAY in temporary foster care. She has neuro symptoms like those found in kittens with FIP. She also may have a respiratory virus, as we hear some congestion and coughing. Her third eyelids are showing and she is very thin. In the care of an excellent foster, she is getting plenty of attention and love. We're going to try to get her in to see a vet ASAP. In the the newest photo, she is being held by the her temp foster. She needs to see a vet for the respiratory symptoms. Meanwhile, her temp foster is making sure she eats something.

Pasadena, CA. 14 Oct 2024. URGENT! TEMPORARY FOSTER NEEDED IN OR NEAR PASADENA. Needs to begin FIP treatment. Subject to foster offer, kitten LUNAY is being transported from a Barstow home to Pasadena tomorrow evening (15 Oct 2024). Immediately, she will be starting oral FIP meds. She has a commitment for foster after that, where medical treatment will continue and she will be slated for adoption when well and fixed. The resident that is relinquishing Lunay to rescue estimates her age to be about two months old. Contact Cat Rescue Team if you can help.

Oct. 7, 2024. To Devan, Mia, Nadia, Sarah, Yvonne, and two very special Barstow residents: thank you for getting nine kittens to safety and helping with their immediate needs!

On Oct. 4, with little notice, you helped four terribly sick, mostly emaciated kittens get out of jeopardy and into the home of a kind and skilled foster. One kitten was so listless, that more than once after arrival, we thought she'd died! In just two days, with food, attention and medical care, all four had greatly improved!

On Oct. 6, with even less notice than two days earlier and without hestation, you jumped onboard to help five more kittens reach safety! They are now comfy, well-fed, and receiving medical care.

Special thanks to Sarah for feeding the first, more-sickly group around the clock every two hours after they arrived, and for then taking in the next group!

UPDATE, Nov. 17: We did get the last 5 kittens out. All nine kittens have gained weight and are doing much better! Some are still being treated for eye conditions, but ALL are playful. Three have an adoption pending, to be completed when they are fixed!
-
UPDATE: PASADENA VOLUNTEER NEEDED NOW. If we can get someone to go in and help the foster with certain treatments daily, we can get the rest of the kittens out today. We have space and transport.
-
ORIGINAL POST: FOSTER OR RESCUE. Foster needed in or near Pasadena; OR, we will transport to other rescues in Southern California.

Oct. 14 Update: All nine kittens that we took out are improved! There is adoption interest for at least two kittens. (We will fix them.) Yesterday, a volunteer took 17 more out from this same Barstow 2 location for spay/neuter/medical attention! This week, we plan to take Mateo out for medical care. Funding is desperately needed! We just could not help some of the cats ad leave behind others. Please help them. See donation info below. We will share update pictures in a separate post soon.
-
Oct. 9 Update: A very skilled and attentive foster is taking care of these babies, checking their weights, giving meds, feeding frequently and giving them lots of hands on love. They are also becoming playful. Check back for new updates soon!
-
Oct. 7 Update: All four kittens that we took out on Oct. 4, now show weight gain! In addition, the five remaining surviving kittens are now in foster care!
-
Oct. 6 Update: The four in foster care required a lot of work the first night and still require close attention, but we are greatly encouraged by their progress! They have been seen by a vet, are on meds and supplements, and have a foster that is very experienced with kitten care. Three out of four have gained weight since their last weight check. One lost a few grams. He and the other kittens will be weighed again today to monitor their status. All are being carefully monitored and receiving very attentive care.
-
URGENT: A foster is needed for the five still in the house.
-
Oct. 5 Update: THANKS TO A FOSTER AND THREE VOLUNTEERS THAT TRANSPORTED, FOUR KITTENS ARE SAFE AND GETTING CARE!
-
Unfortunately another kitten, still in the house, has died, bringing the total that died in the Barstow home to six.
-
Oct. 3 Update: ANOTHER KITTEN DIED (FIVE TOTAL), and one more is fading.
-
Oct 2, 2024: FOUR KITTENS HAVE DIED. REMAINING KITTENS NEED HELP NOW! NOT ALL CATS HAVE BEEN POSTED, YET.
Mamas, older kittens, and other cats need help too!
Barstow, CA. Oct. 2, 2024

This is one of several posts about kitties living in a Barstow home where residents with physical and financial hardships are unable to care for them. Owners are relinquishing kittens and adults. We're still collecting details about these cats, but sick kitties cannot wait! In a separate room, some older kittens and adult cats reportedly do not appear sick. Kitties can be removed quickly from the property and transferred if they have a place to go.

Barstow, CA. Oct. 1, 2024. THREE BABY KITTENS DIED YESTERDAY. THE CATS AND KITTENS IN THIS HOME WILL NOT SURVIVE WITHOUT YOUR HELP! In an overpopulated home with insufficient care, cats and kittens need rescues. They are also in need of vet care, food, foster care and adoption.
-
There are hardships in the home and the humans cannot provide reasonable care. Sick cats have not received vet treatment and have suffered. Owners have not been fixing animals. They are relinquishing many cats. There may be approx. 15 older kittens and adults, plus some babies that need to be safely relinquished right now! The owners will keep several additional cats in the home (which are not posted here). We'll update with more information as we get it. Rescues, are urgently needed! If you can take even one cat, please step up! Not all cats needing rescue are included on this post. We'll add more in a subsequent post.
-
IMPORTANT NOTE: Information has been provided quickly and we're awaiting answers to some questions. We'll update our posts as information comes in.

FINAL UPDATE: Flame had kidney failure. He was severely dehydrated and anemic to the point that he needed blood transfusions. He'd had access to food, but was likely not eating well, leading to his emaciated condition. Thanks to Stephanie Stephens, M.A. and Feline the Love Rescue for jumping in and working hard to get him transported to her vet quickly. We split the expenses and will share any donations received. We won't discover miracles if we don't try to do something and I'm grateful that we did, but this outcome is still painful.

UPDATE, 9/18/2024: We were not able to save him. He had been emaciated and sick for a long time before we got to him. We'll share more later.

His vet appt. is at 3:00 pm today (9/18/2024). Feline the Love (rescue) is working with us. Please share and donate if you can. He needs YOUR help!

UPDATE: LIA needs a temporary foster from Set. 26 - Oct. 19.
-
LIA is one of the kittens that were removed from the Barstow 4 site when we were trapping for the Aug. 28 spay/neuter (32 cats). Due to Lia's age and medical condition, she was not fixed that day. On the day that this photo was taken, we had brought LIA to Pasadena for a visit with an ophthalmologist. Her left eye has a hole in the seal. With the hope that we will save her eye, we'll treat her eye with medicine for two months, and then have a re-check with the ophthalmologist. For the safety of her eye, she has to be separated from the other kittens. We're a little sad about that, but kitten-play could put her eye in jeopardy. In this photo, Lia is checking out her reflection from a bathtub. (Her injured eye is not seen in this photo.)
