The dog days of summer are here!

Zeus! This is how we will always remember him. Cody and I both loved him dearly and our heart breaks for his family. But when he was here, he knew how to have a good time! He was the best boy and he was LOVED.

Today we remember Charlie! He loved taking walks and getting a tastey treat afterwards. He chased bubbles with a playful heart. He rolled in the grass at every opportunity and in his early years he loved jumping up on top of things where he would exclaim "Bark- our!" And Cody would take his picture. Dr. Chuckles is back to jumping high and chasing bubbles over the Rainbow Bridge. He will be missed by so many. Our hearts go out to his family and companion dog, Sally. It was our honor to be your petsitter, buddy.

Today, we said goodbye to our loyal supervisor, Mini. She was often with me in her pouch on walks and goodnight rounds. She painted numerous portraits with me and was always up for a party or just to snuggle and watch Star Trek for the billionth time. She always dressed for the occasion and I would be lying if I said she never complained. But I always loved her, and I always will.

Dogs lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you're going to lose a dog, and there's going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can't support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion. There's such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.
