Twin Ponds Farm will be open today....BY RESERVATION ONLY....offering rope lead minature pony rides, train rides, hay ride, meet Arnold, our minature Bull, feed and play with the goats, meet our pigs and maybe even....catch a glimpse of our newest 6 day old bull calf Moses! We purchased Reba, our Highland in October and NO one mentioned anything about her possibly being around a bull!!!!! We started to suspect she may be pregnant a few months ago!

Yesterday, we went to do chores and Reba didn’t come up to the barn like usual, so we went on the hunt! She had gone down to the bottom pasture and started laboring! (Mind you, the proprietors of the farm are on vacation, so it’s been me and my three girls tending to the daily chores and upkeep!!!!!)

I’ve always wanted to pull a calf, but wasn’t about to assist IF she didn’t need the help! We finished feeding the other animals and I checked on her again and knew we had a situation. Poor baby only had one leg out, I knew Reba needed help with the delivery and I knew I needed help since it was my first time!

We called one of our farmer friends and he came to help! I was so happy to see him! We got Reba secured to a tree and within 10-15 minutes we had a healthy bull calf!

I learned a lot (yes, you can teach an old dog a new trick) and am excited to see this little guy grow up!

It was hot, it wasn’t easy, BUT we had fun and got it done! Nothing better than conquering a big project with your family.

The train is working well, the baby animals are wanting to meet you and the horses seem ready to go.... we are SO CLOSE TO opening!

A visit to the Farm & Tractor Show!!! This is an annual FREE (exception for parking and special seminars/tractor pull) event that takes place at the Kentucky Expo Hall, attracts 300,000 attendees & exhibitors, has 900 booths, & is all housed in a 27 acre interconnected indoor exposition hall!!! We travel to Norman, Indiana to pick up two Meishan Pigs! Meishan's are an ancient breed found mostly in China! They are awfully cute and LOUD!!!

TPF is currently preparing for the winter season and in the process is doing some animal shifting to better prepare us for our goals for 2022. We hope to soon be adding more feeder pigs, of different breeds, another Scottish Highland young Bull and in the spring more laying hens. Sadly (for some) we are looking to be selling some of our larger (full size} horses. Keep watching for more updates!
