The weather has been unpredictable lately and we were blessed with a short bout of heavy rain halfway through the agility trial. So we plan to start earlier today at 5pm and registration opens at 4pm. See you later and let's hope for a dry and coolish weather today🙏🏼

Hi everyone, we have moved our Saturday Trials slightly earlier. The first event Tunnel Cup will start at 5.30pm instead of 6pm and the venue open at 4.15pm. For parking, you may park on the first field on the right before taking a short walk over to our competition venue.

Lucas B**g has touched down from Singapore to judge our upcoming FCI Agility National Championships on the 17th & 18th June 2023. As the judge, he will build our competition agility course using as many obstacles as possible. The design of the course is based on his creativity, keeping in mind safety for both dogs and handlers. The level of difficulty of the course and speed that is needed depends on the class of the competition with zero being the easiest and three being the highest level in a ring about 20m x 35m with the actual length of the course between 110m to 220m.

After the course is laid out and marked with numbers indicating the order in which they must be completed, the Handlers will only have 8 minutes to walk the course before the competition starts. In this precious 8 minutes, the handlers will have to memorize the course, and plan their handling strategies, their positions in the course in order to best direct their dogs through the course.

Results will be based on accuracy and speed of each team and each team will only once chance to complete the course. If there is any hesitation in taking an obstacle, the team may receive a refusal and knocked bars would count as a fault. If the unfortunate team takes an obstacle in the wrong order, the team will be eliminated so teams must not only be fast, but accurate as well.

The teams that survive and obtain 1st, 2nd and 3rd placing will be given Biologically Appropriate Raw Food (BARF) recipes sponsored by Coco & Joe as their prizes. We are looking forward to our upcoming FCI Agility Trial where all the agility enthusiasts will gather for an action-packed weekend starting with Agility Runs on Saturday 6pm, Jumping Runs on Sunday 6pm, and finally ending with a workshop with Lucas on Monday. 28 teams with various breeds of all heights will be convening in Penang from Perlis to Kuala Lumpur to participate in this event and is always such a happy gathering of friends. It is always very gratifying to see the sportsmanship amongst all the teams with everyone celebrating each successful run and the groans from everyone when a team makes an unfortunate mistake in the ring. There is such camaraderie amongst all competitors as we feel blessed that we have such a healthy competition environment.

As organizers, we are always very grateful to competitors for their lightheartedness, creating a fun and friendly atmosphere for all. We will also be joined by physiotherapist and tui na therapist YingYi whom will be offering massages to the dogs to help handlers warm up or cool down their dogs. Spectators and their well-behaved dogs are always welcomed to come and watch our competition which will be happening from 6pm - 10pm Saturday and Sunday.

Dog agility was created in 1977 in England and very quickly became a very popular sport in UK, Europe as well as around the world. As agility evolved into a sport, the standard for the agility equipment started to change, with the designs and the make of each obstacle produced to minimize the risk of injury in terms of grip, stability as well as impact on their joints and body.

Course designs have also evolved overtime to take into account of the speed and safety of the dogs in the courses and many obstacles have been removed from this sport due to safety purposes. A lot of thought has been put into allowing both dogs and handlers to run agility courses safely especially for the dog as the sport has been designed with the dog’s best interest at heart.

FCI Agility is a dog competition open to all healthy and physically fit dogs of all heights. The aim of agility is for the dogs to negotiate different obstacles in a set order and within a set time. As agility is an athletic activity, dogs need to be reasonably fit and free of illness and injuries to be able to participate.

Agility is a sporting activity that intends to assess the dog’s intelligence and the communication and mutual understanding between dog and handler and dogs that participate in agility will develop a good work ethic and be very focused on their handlers. As the dogs learn to work in different environment as well as interact with different equipment’s, they develop confidence to work in new and different environments as they are no longer scared of new places, nor are they sensitive towards sounds. They also learn to be comfortable with heights as well as moving objects beneath their feet.

As agility is all about having a good time together with your dog, you will see both handlers and dogs enjoying this sport. The bond between both is undeniable and can be seen as the teams navigate the obstacle courses as one, both having a good time regardless of the results.
