Your tax dollars are paying for Mustangs to be supported by the government, however, many are now being purchased cheaply by people to turn a profit by auctioning them to be shipped to slaughterhouses: Please support "The Farm Bill" with much celebrity support in ending the shipping of horses to slaughter outside the U.S.
This page is to bring awareness to the droves of government BLM Mustangs that may have been purchased for as little as under 150 and then sent to auction for some/s to sell for upwards to 1000.
The current situation: While some people have honest intentions and relinquish their Mustangs due to financial hardship or other pure reasons, many of these young, beautiful, and quality Mustang horses are being supported by your tax dollars(3000 a mustang a year to feed/care for) and then purchased in high numbers cheaply and turned for profit from unsavory people who are taking advantage of "the system." As under U.S. law Mustangs are to be protected.
How does this happen? One person may be allowed to buy 4 mustangs at once. After purchasing and or out of their legal adoption phase(one year) one can simply do with them as they please - flip them for slaughter profit. Further, there is an annex gov. program that gives 1000 to train the wild Mustangs and adopt them out for a standard 125 fee. Shamefully some do not follow the regulations and pocket your tax dollars(people have gotten up to 20,000 a year) and flip the mustang to an auction where kill-buyers pick them up to sell to businesses who ship horses to Mexico and Canada for slaughter meat. These businesses usually give the horses two weeks to sell before they ship. Please support "The Farm Bill" with much House of Rep. support in ending the shipping of horses to slaughter outside the U.S.
How can you help? Spread awareness through social media as you see fit. Call your local legislator to support the "anti-horse slaughter act." And for true warriors, join policy reform groups that push for more government regulation per limiting the number of Mustangs one person can easily acquire and more supervising regulations and penalties supporting more stringent laws for Musang purchasing. It protects the Mustangs and your tax money.
