So last night I left the gigantic cribo's cage door open. She crawled throughout the snake room, exploring the racks, squeezing behind the tubs on each level and shoving them forward, releasing snakes all over the place. Worst escape situation I've ever had, but at this point everyone is accounted for except for one...and I think I know where that one is, unfortunately. What a Monday.

Turns out the Selayar jansenii might not have been from Selayar.

Formerly, the all black jansenii were referred to as Salayar/Selayar jansenii, due to the belief that they were collected from that particular island and possibly limited to that area. Gonyosoma People:

I've been trying to increase the value of the Goyosoma.org website. It is currently limited to only the oxy/jansen species, but given the name, it might be nice to expand to cover the whole genus (even if the included species seem, to many of us, like strange bedfellows).

With that said, if any of you who keep prasinum, boulengeri, or frenatum, want to write up an article (or several) to share your knowledge, ideally with some cool photos to intersperse in the text, then please reach out to me and let's chat.

Freight Freitas (the man responsible for the oxy/jansen care info you see on the site now) set the bar pretty high with the quality of his writing. I'm not saying you have to be that academic/meticulous with anything you contribute, but hopefully we'd end up with something more in-depth than the three paragraph caresheets that are already available everywhere on the web.

The website doesn't make money (rather, it costs some money) so this would be "for the glory" and not for any financial reward.

DOUBLE TRIPLE CLUTCH.

This is a first for me (although I'm told that others have seen it in their own collections). Triple clutches with both of the females in my Coelognathus radiatus trio. One pairing each with their male, and following this single pairing, they each laid first clutches in January, 2nd ("double clutches") in March, and now they are laying their 3rd clutches (which so far appear fertile, no obvious duds), about a week after their first clutches began hatching.

I'm not necessarily thrilled about it since double clutching is already considered very taxing on the females, but I'm not sure I could have done anything to prevent it. Just something to remember next time around and make sure they are very healthy and very well-fed prior to breeding (which they were).

Initial impressions on the jet black Gonyosoma jansenii:

1) If someone told me this was a different species, closer to a melanistic oxycephalum than a jansenii, I'd say "Yeah, that's pretty apparent.". They just have a different look from the jansenii I've seen, and the body type is definitely more slender. I can see these being actual "arboreals" as opposed to the more common jansenii that I always saw as "semi-arboreal". There's also the blue tongue, which I always associated with oxycephalum rather than jansenii. Not trying to make any scientific claims here, just observations...

2) They are the glossiest snake I've ever seen in person. Much more so than even my Eastern Indigos. Every bit as "shiny" as they look.
I'll share more as I'm able, just pray they have longevity in my care and that I can turn this into a long-term project.
