On Sunday morning, we woke up to a hotline call regarding a found bull terrier, now named Natty (formerly known as M&M) in Nashville, TN. A local woman named Judith was driving home the day before along a busy street and spotted her. Judith pulled over, got out of the car, opened the door and the bully just jumped right in. Judith took her to the vet to be scanned for a chip and found out she didn’t have one. She then spent the next 3 - 4 hours walking around the neighborhood, knocking on doors trying to find her owner to no avail. Once we spoke with Judith, we had her fill out the proper reports on the bully with animal control regarding a found dog. In addition, posts were made on several pages in hopes that her owner would come along. The stray hold ended and the only messages sent in on any of the posts were from local people saying they had seen Natty roaming around since at least Halloween. Judith and her husband Greg called our intake/placement coordinator on Tuesday afternoon to let her know that they knew it was a holiday on Thursday so they would keep her until Friday but she needed a spot by then because her presence in the home was upsetting for their own 2 rescue dogs. Our coordinator dropped everything else she was working on and cancelled plans so that she could work on finding a place for Natty. Thankfully, a few viable options came up, allowing us to decide which one seemed best for Natty. The family we chose, Mikayla and Forrest, lost their bully girl in May of 2022. Things have just not been the same in the house since her passing and they happened to be going to Nashville for Thanksgiving so would be able to get Natty by Friday’s deadline. We got all the paperwork and logistics figured out and today Mikayla and Forrest went to Judith and Greg’s home so they could get Natty and head on home to start her new life. Below is a picture of when Natty and Mikayla first met.
Special thanks to Judith, Greg and their daughter for taking care of Natty since Saturday and trying to make sure that she got into the right hands and all those caring people who reached out offering to help with Natty and getting her a place by today.
