Even Santa’s reindeer need a veterinarian! 🎅🏼🦌

MOVES Chicago is happy to announce they have been certified as an official “Santa’s E.L.V.E.S.” (Emergency Landing and Veterinary Expert System) location. ❤️💚

This means that in the event that Santa’s reindeer team need to make an unscheduled Christmas Eve stop for veterinary care while traveling through the Chicago area, Dr. Wyatt will be available to provide needed assistance and ensure a safe and on-time delivery of Santa’s cargo. 


Santa's Official Veterinarian let us know that the reindeer have all received RTF (“Ready To Fly”) status so we will be hearing hooves on the roof soon! Don’t forget to leave out carrots so they can refuel! 🥕

This is Woody, a very special patient.

Dr. Wyatt and Cindy recently rechecked Woody, who has been diagnosed with Mitral Valve Degeneration, a common age related condition seen in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and other small breed dogs.

This past November, however, Woody underwent a novel surgical procedure to repair his Mitral Valve. Performed at Colorado State University, Woody had a V-Clamp completed and his recheck echocardiogram revealed significant improvement in his heart condition. The V-Clamp is a highly specialized procedure that we hope someday is more widely available, thanks to patients like Woody.

Today we are happy to report his long term prognosis has improved. Even better, his coughing has resolved and Woody is thriving at home! We are grateful for being given the opportunity to participate in this handsome boy's care! 🐾❤️🎉

Team Chicago saw Olive (this cute older Chihuahua) this week for an Echocardiogram.

📚Vet Facts: An echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart, and it is intended to complement chest x-rays when screening for heart disease. An echocardiogram (also known as an ECHO) is used to:

1. Evaluate the size and shape of the four heart chambers.
2. Evaluate the heart function (also known as contractility).
3. Evaluate for changes to the four valves within the heart.
4. Evaluate the size and shape of the heart walls (looking for thickening or hypertrophy).
5. Evaluate for Pulmonary Hypertension (high blood pressure within the right side of the heart).
